My children have attended this school for 8 and 6 years respectively and we could not be happier with the faculty, administration and student body. The small class size and K-8 structure has given them a wonderful educational experience. I highly recommend Dr. Bessie Rhodes Magnet School.

Bessie Rhodes has some great teachers, but the administration leaves much to be desired. There have been five different principles in as many years. Current leadership is only marginally engaged with the parents and community. Much ado is made over the school's focus as a "School of Global Studies" but beyond the annual "International Night" event, the notion of global studies is nothing but a public relations spin. Unfortunately, the leadership at the district level (Evanston/Skokie District 65) is also lacking, which partially accounts for the weak leadership at this school. This school is K-8 so that is perhaps it's most appealing aspect. Families do not have to endure a geographic/logistical elementary to middle school transition.
