Great set of student services. Lots of open classes. Teachers are too structured and online classes are still messy- still can be docked for technological glitches. Teachers are power hungry. I did not get the sense that the teachers are interested in educating but instead in grading and enforcing rules. Not a school for adult learners. Felt like going back to Kindergarten. Even the curriculums felt a little basic. At least now I know. Makes me glad I am no longer a young college student with a sponge for a brain. Helps me to see now what I secretly seeked to escape from as a young adult. I wouldn’t bother coming here if you’re an adult. Especially since places like Chabot College do a better job of providing courses and certificates directly related to the work world.

Horrible Insite Scheduling process that will show the course is no longer on my Insite or schedule after I clicked drop the course before the W date and "Authorized to Add" on schedule builder implying I am no longer in the course yet I still received the W and have to pay an additional 100 dollars for what is basically a complete scam. Will no longer be pursuing that line of study because of such blasphemy. On top of that, the teachers can be highly unprofessional with cursing and discomforting flirtatious gestures.

**Update**
Veterans, you should expect to micromanage Michael Romano along with the entire staff related to Chapter 35. Don’t rely on email and if he or they respond saying he or they sent off the verification, make sure you get the confirmation directly from the VA before you walk out of any office.

A lot excuses coming from every direction - the solution here would be to hire a full time VA representative whose sole responsibility is to certify and take care of Veteran students. It’s really not difficult, but when a college is woke, this tends to happen.

As a POST 911 injured combat veteran, my child decided to utilize benefits from my service. The Veteran Rep - Michael Romano is very difficult to work with. He doesn’t respond to email or phone calls regarding requests to send in verification to the VA. When he does, it’s because we cc’ the registrar. This has caused my child’s health insurance to lapse during Christmas break and has also caused a VERY long delay in receiving Chapter 35. It’s not difficult to process requests. My other child is using chapter 35 at UCSD and has never experienced issues this bad. It’s unfortunate veterans and their beneficiaries are getting this type of treatment at DVC. I would welcome a sit down or call to discuss in person in order to mitigate this issue. Our veterans and their beneficiaries deserve better.

I love DVC... been here for 3 semesters and the culinary department is being revamped and after hearing the vision for it, I think DVC has potential to be one of the top culinary schools to get an AS or AA. I believe they will become one of the most respected Jr colleges to transfer from to places like CIA in Napa. They are also getting ready to have a bachelor's degree in the culinary arts program

Beautiful campus. Many walks of life. Teachers and staff may not be reasonable at times but its generally good for an education. Already had 2 friends transfer, you can go your own pace.

It is absolutely impossible to get an academic counseling appointment, and the receptionist are not helpful at all.
They are booked out for transcript evaluation almost a month out !? Definitely a down side to this college, they seem under staffed and don't care. But they "could fit you in" if you have "special" program like MESA ? Why is that more important then any other students needs. I most likely will be going else where next semester

Some instructors are really good and some are really bad and do not qualify to be doing what they are doing. Some of the classes are taught by woke instructors who want you to comply with woke ideology. They force faculty and staff to mention and display their pronouns. Some of the instructors are truly unprofessional and should be fired. If you must attend this place, stay proactive, only take the classes that you need to take to transfer out, and do that as fast as you can. DO NOT take any of their online classes. It is often the case that the classes that you need will be instantly full and the only thing left will be classes that you do not need, especially low quality, horrible online classes. The classes that are needed fill up fast with international students and concurrent high school students. Nothing will be easy here and it will hurt you to draw out your time here. I do not recommend this community college if you can attend somewhere else. There are a few good instructors here and there.
