Cunningham Children’s Home is one of those agencies that every community has but doesn't really understand how special it really is. From their counseling services to their educational programs to their schools to their support services for families throughout East Central Illinois, you're not going to find any other organization who truly combine caring for others with unmatched quality of care they provide to those who need it.

The Cunningham children’s home is not for junior high students. This place only gets quilts as a fundraiser.

I volunteered for the first time this weekend at the Children's home. The staff is so nice and wonderful. I am so inspired by the staff and the volunteers that show up. This place is hope for children. It's also hope for the parents to reconnect with their children again. Someday I'm hoping that I can work in the refugee area, but for now I'm really enjoying the events that I will be able to help at. Since the pandemic happened everything is slowly opening back up but it's totally worth it coming to volunteer.

All of these places for kids are ok but I think everyone forgets why kids might act up. Myself included was one of them. We are expected to adjust to another new place, meet another whole new set of people! And just deal!! It’s like moving to a prison you only get 10 minute phone calls, etc. you cannot leave when you wish, you have mandatory meetings. I was one of the kids that never tried drugs, etc I was literally only there because my parents weren’t parents. And I struggled and suffered. I’m 27 now married 8 years three kids. I own my own home. I didn’t get here with out fighting. I wanted to give up. And have night mares to this day about being in homes. Some things could’ve changed to make me a happier teen. But there were some staff there that made my time there amazing. Todd Wagner

The quilt show put on there is smaller in scale but the work is beautiful. Good food. The instructor was very good at explaining how to adjust block size to adjust a pattern to fill a specific need.

I grew up there, too. It was the best thing that ever happened to me. I do wonder about some of the kids that were there while I was ... 1970 -1973. I am still close friends with one girl (now a woman, of course). It sure looks different now. The pool was built during my stay. I lived on the 2nd floor of Spalding Hall, then in Sarah English cottage. Are they still there? Would love to hear from anybody who knew me as Laura Magnusson (now Gregory). I have lived in Oklahoma since leaving CCH.
