My wife died from Breast Cancer, 30 years she slaved for CCCERA, paying into their bucket of promises. 2 days after she dies I got the cancellation letter from CalPers. Your stupid dead wife blah blah blah canceled, Don’t expect much. I’m paying $900 a month out of pocket for coverage I was promised for 30 years.

I've been dealing with these people for 10 years.
THEY ARE TERRIBLE.
The staff are horribly incompetent and rude, nobody can answer a simple question without transferring you 10 times and making you wait forever.
Additionally, they still operate like it's 1985.
Nothing electronic, you have to PRINT their forms and mail them in. Then you have to wait months for them to be processed.
WARNING: They actually require that you send copies of sensitive documents (ss cards, IDs, etc) to them via USPS. Be careful doing that!

It's inefficient, tedious and completely behind the times.

If I had a choice, I would avoid them at all costs.

Dealing with them is maddening.

Taking over someone else's affairs and getting things in order for them can be quite confusing and horribly frustrating. Each encounter w/ the folks at the CCCERA over the last 5+ years has been extremely helpful. Not to mention timely and pleasant. For a while I thought they knew my Dad personally and that's why they were so kind - but it turns out that's just the way they are, consistently. So refreshing, Thank you!
