Ended our celebration of Italian Heritage Month with a trip to Casa Italia, located in Stone Park, IL. The Casa is the center of preservation and promotion of Italian American culture in the Chicagoland area. It houses the famous replica of St. Peter's Basilica, crafted by a father and son team of master craftsmen who created reproductions of some of the world's more iconic structures, including the Art Institute, Union Station, and the Auditorium Theater. Painstakingly accurate, it took 1 year just for measurements and 5 years of labor at 14 hours a day to complete. The model was blessed by Pope Pius XII. It was exhibited in 37 cities around the country. Throughout the year, you can visit on Wednesdays between 1 and 5pm. We highly recommend it for your Bucket List as seeing it live is truly a breathtaking experience.

Wonderful place and wonderful people, dedicated to preserving Italian-American heritage and culture. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, over 10 acres of space including an Italian American museum, cultural center, outdoor grotto and pavilion for parties dinners and events. They have bocce ball courts and they organize many events throughout the year.

Great place to embrace the Italian culture. They have several museums, cultural events and a banquet center for larger scale parties. Located in Stone Park, it's fairly close to O'hare and Chicago.

Casa Italia put on a beautiful operatic exhibition of four rising stars from Northwestern and DePaul Universities: David Wolfe, Michelle Mariposa, Geoffrey Schmelzer, and Stephanie Gubin, accompanied by Saori Chiba. The show and dinner were a part of the 47th Annual Vocal Scholarship Awards Dinner & Concert of Italian Opera at the Italian Cultural Center of Casa Italia in Stonepark, IL.

Casa hosted my aunt's 90th birthday party for around 100 people. They were so accomodating, and made my aunt feel like a princess - tiara and all. The space was very homey, and Casa arranged the catering, photographers, and musician. My family has been going to events at their beautiful grounds for at least 60 years. There always seems to be some type of festive event going on. It is a hidden gem.
