We love Candeo! Having taught the public school system, I knew I wanted my own children to experience something different. This beautiful public charter school was the perfect answer! The classical approach challenges my daughter in her learning and allows her natural creativity to blossom. I’m so thankful we found this school.

Our daughter has been attending this school since Kindergarten and is now in 2nd. We have loved seeing her academic skills flourish! The moment she learned to read in Kinder, she went crazy with books. She even recites all the new information she learns in her classes. She is always excited to go back to school, loves her friends, loves her teachers, and loves all the staff.

We chose this school for the curriculum because it allows children to learn the foundations they need to be successful. They use minimal technology which means homework is on sheets and books, as they should be for young minds. Class sizes are small which means my child gets more focus time and the teacher has the ability to focus on the needs of each student. They have lots of after-school activities, students get rewarded for their hard work and ability to respect others, and even get cultural events in their class.

The school events they do have are great, and I like that parental volunteering is not frequent because our household is busy enough with our own after-school activities. When I do volunteer, I get to see the school culture and how the kids interact. The staff and teachers have been so friendly to us that we have enjoyed it each year. Every school has their problems, but that should not outweigh the positives of a flourishing and happy student. So whether you are looking for academic excellence or a focused environment for your child, Candeo North Scottsdale is a wonderful choice!

They called the police on my kids and my kids' school (which is a small homeschool co-op next door) for interacting with their students over the fence.

These interactions were deemed inappropriate due to: toys being thrown across the fence to share and "bad" words being used. Keep in mind these students are ages 4 - 11.

I'll be contacting Candeo this week and post relevant updates to this review once I have more details, but I find this action to be completely over the top and reactive, while setting a poor example for all the students involved.

I'm happy to take down or revise this review if new details emerge that change the narrative, but so far multiple parents and teachers from our school have tried to contact Candeo without any success and we have received no contact or explanation from them. Even then, the police? Really?

From what I was told, the police officer that showed up was extremely embarrassed that he had to show up on behalf of Candeo and recommended next time they contact our school directly. (the obvious first step)

Our first couple of years when North Scottsdale campus at Candeo first opened, everything was amazing! Since then, the school has gone downhill, and they are not open to feedback or transparent with anything. I understand that all schools are struggling with staffing right now and that is not the issue. The main issues are the transparency and constructive feedback. For the most part, the curriculum has been great, and that is why we have stuck around in hopes that things improve. They need to stop focusing on what color, backpacks, lunchboxes, and headbands that kids are wearing and focus on the important things which is our children’s experience and education.

My child went here for middle school and the first year was fine but from then on the schools education and staffing issues have gone extremely downhill. They were unable to find teachers for certain classes and the students were forced to learn online, in the classroom settings. Teachers were leaving and un experienced subs were put into place. My child's education was put at stake because a school cant get their act together. The staff was more worried about what lunchbox my child has or what color socks they were wearing over their education. This school needs to be handled correctly and not be hiring unqualified people. Take a look at the Peoria campus, they have everything together and in order. When my child first came here the school promised a small garden and even a mini agricultural area but over the course of 3 years nothing has happened. Candeo north scottsdale need to be able to keep promises and get their stuff together. I would not recommend that you put your child in this school. Do not fall stray to their promises.

As a parent of 4 grater I must say that my child is very happy. We are with Candeo since the school opened the North Scottsdale location. Definitely crazy for the home teacher for sure. ..very lucky to have the same teacher 2nd year in the row, Ms. Powell. She is awesome with the students and great communicator with parents.
This school is strictly pursuing the circulum. Responds to students needs right away. Reacts to students misconduct as it should.
Make me feel very comfortable that this is my child's school. Candeo teaches the understanding of being responsible. Helps children to realize how continuing your well doing can help with achieving your goals. Well planned ahead and implanted discipline.. the way all kids will benefit from.
Happy to be with Candeo North Scottsdale.

Candeo has the potential to be an amazing school. Unfortunately, because of the extremely poor leadership, the school has not been able to reach its potential. The school seems to have a hard time with the concepts of communication and transparency. The organization treats its teachers extremely poorly. Fact that does not lie : At the back to school 2023, there are ZERO teacher left from back to school 2020 when the campus opened. ZERO! They can hide saying that every schools are facing challenges, (which is true), but to that extent ? Really ?
They try to lure new teachers with exciting perks, but untold conditions are revealed during the school year or teachers are given excuses on why they won't actually get those perks. Experienced teachers are completely dismissed and disregarded by administration. As a teacher, if you dare raise a concern, an opinion, or just a challenging question, you will be labeled as "a always complaining teacher" and the administration will not have any problem to not renew your contract even if you had excellent results in the classroom.
Conclusion: the school needs a new leadership and a culture change if they want to turn things around.

Like all other reviews, literally all the staff left. And the new ones were very rude. But shoutout to Mr Bross and Mrs Hamburg bc they were great and the reason why I wanted to stay ?
