Camping at Camp Hale was an incredible experience! The area is steeped in history, surrounded by stunning mountain views, and offers so much to explore. I loved setting up camp in such a peaceful setting and then spending my days hiking the nearby trails, including a visit to the historic 10th Mountain Division training grounds. The highlight was flying my drone over the area to capture the breathtaking scenery from above. There’s also plenty to do nearby, like exploring the abandoned train tunnel in Redcliffe or taking a scenic drive over the mountain passes. Camp Hale is a must-visit for anyone looking to immerse themselves in Colorado’s natural beauty and history. I can't wait to go back!

I recently visited Camp Hale for a wedding, and I can't even begin to describe how breathtaking it was. The entire setting felt like something straight out of a fairytale, with its stunning landscapes and serene atmosphere. It's truly a magical place.

Very interesting history. Amazing that an Army training camp was built in an extraordinary valley in a beautiful mountain setting. Also, very nice to learn the site has been declared a National monument. However, these two thoughts raise two questions: Why was the camp dismantled? And, although a sign was erected bragging the Biden administration declared it a National monument, it appears they appropriated no funds to maintain it. Signs, roads, trails, etc. are all in need of repair. Additionally, one has to wonder why a museum and/or replicas of former buildings have not been erected. (Again, maybe no funding?) It's a shame this place is not getting the glory and respect that it should. Regardless, it is still a "should see" for all patriots, military buffs, and historically minded folks who travel to this area of Colorado. I would rate it a 5 if it were given more attention and respect to fully display the importance of this Army training camp.

Kinda cool. Never knew this was a place. I was driving through on my way to Leadville area and run accross Camp Hale. Wish I could have spent more time. Maybe next year.. Great place to get out and stretch the legs, take in the sights and just imagine what it looked like in it's hay days!!

Great history of World War 2 and the training of our 10th Mountain soldiers. Also incredible history for our ski industry with so many soldiers returning post war to start US Ski resorts. Vail Mountain being one. The new monument is a great addition and there could even be a future visitor center. The drive alone is worth it.

Very educational and some structures are still visible. Some gravel roads are not for low clearance sedans or sports cars but suvs should be fine. It was in a beautiful valley with signs describing the camp in the 40s-60s.

Scenery is great, but the interpretation of the site is terrible. People driving around the valley floor trying to understand what was there. The forest service has really done nothing with the site.
