A unique and educational experience. When open to the public you can walk around and into the various "shelter homes" on your own, taking photos, etc., and then at a specific hour they announce the informational tour and people gather together to listen and learn about Cal-Earth, their world-wide goals, internships offered, the various 'shelters' and how they're built, and much, much, more in an informal manner and a relaxed atmosphere.

I came from far away to visit. But it is all fenced off with NO TRESPASSING signs. This goes against the openness of the earthbag philosophy. I am saddened to not get to to visit one, though I'm mere feet away. At least have a portion easy to visit year-round. I'm sure if Nader Khalili was still around he'd let me check them out...

I've been to Cal-Earth several times now in support of the great work the Khalili family is doing. Always a pleasure to hear their story and find out where they are in their journey of creating sustainable and affordable housing.

Attending an Open House is a Must for anyone interested in Earth-Buildings and Sustainable housing. It will Not Disappoint!

These folk are truly amazing! Not only do they offer the easiest sustainable building with earth. They are very quick to offer help and suggestions. I am very impressed with the fact that you can learn how to super adobe either via their books, workshops or videos. Its pure genius.

Shows you how to build Adobe type houses, cheaply but permanent weather & storm proof, using plastic continuous bags, dirt, & cement. Really a great place to visit. You will learn a lot about affordable housing on your own property.
