My son has been attending the 2-day/week class this year, and we have been very happy with it! He had never been to daycare or been watched by anyone other than mom and dad, so I was nervous about the transition. The teachers are extremely patient and welcoming, and my son has loved school since day 1! I'm glad we found this preschool and plan for him to attend next year as well.

My son attended Cactus Wren for two years- one year in the two day class which was a perfect transition for him, one semester in the three day and one semester in the Pre-K 4 day. His teachers went above and beyond to make school fun and something he looked forward to attending every time he went. I love that it is play based with more of an emphasis on the academics in the 4 day in preparation for elementary school. I chose this preschool for my son and now my daughter as a former educator who highly values great classroom instruction. I'm looking forward to a brand new year at a new site!

After all the contributions I made to the school and always brought in anything they may have needed for class. My son always took snacks or something when there was a holiday party. We always participated in most of the events School donations, we did a lot for the school and I felt like they could have done more for my child. My son enjoyed going into the school and he liked his teachers but something went downhill. He was doing fine at the beginning for the school year. Unless they never told me about any occurrences until months later. This school wasn’t a great fit for my child. Again I wanted to share my experience so families can know my experience. I didn’t wanna bash but it’s something that needed to be said. I’ve enrolled my son in a new school and hoping things turn out better. After all they don’t require all that extra stuff. Volunteer, donations, providing the snacks, co up fees. Along with tuition for the families who pay their tuition with out the help of scholarships.

My daughter attended preschool here this school year and absolutely loved it! The teachers are so attentive and patient. The communication within the school is top notch. I can’t wait for my younger daughter to be old enough to attend here.

I’m just sharing my experience and I don’t wanna bash the school. Its good for other people to know other people’s experiences to give them a better idea if it’s a good school for their children whom may deal with same issues as my son. My son attended cactus wren and was in the 3day preschool class. The beginning of the school year he was 3 turning 4 in November. Everything seem the be going fine while he was in class. It was his first time being in a school setting with other children. Fast foward months later I was receiving messages from his teacher regarding some behavioral/concerns they had. I had a meeting with the director Jaque and his teacher. We went over what the concerns were which at that time were some social skills. He didn’t wanna share with other kids or would become upset if teachers told him something. They thought maybe getting him in with Easter seals Blake foundation which is a behavioral health facilty for children who deal with certain behavioral issues. I agreed I would do that, I contacted Easter seals Blake foundation told them his school recommended him to be seen because of some issues they recognized while being in class. I couldn’t get him in fast enough due to some insurance issues and had to wait until that issue was resolved. Acouple weeks past and I continue to get messages regarding his behavior. He’s saying bad words in class. Last straw was hitting a kid and dragging him on floor as the director said. I had options to stay in class with him to observe him or withdrawal him. I did withdrawal him because I was disappointed. I was disappointed at the fact that they seem to have given up on him. The fact that I was trying to be a team and help fix the situation and even getting him in to the behavioral health clinic they recommended. I never claim for my sons behavioral to be appropriate or okay. Me and his father have always talked to him and always talked about right from wrong. I don’t know why my son gets so upset that he hits a kid. I just know I’m making the move to get him seen. It’s just sad because there’s children who really have behavioral issues because of disability’s etc. My son could have something wrong with him that has caused him to get the way he has. I wasn’t in the classroom to observe him so idk if something triggered him or not. The director told me they never documented the behaviors or approaches they took in those situations which is also disappointing. I thought when becoming a teacher or a director for a school you would know what approach to take with children who struggle with certain behavioral. Which again was never documented on which approach they took. I was told that my son hitting a kid and dragging a kid is not child like behavior. Which I find it hard to believe because I’ve seen so many kids now in this generation really have this kind of behavior. Mind you, his teacher was rude and flat out told me some kids are more socially developed. It’s sad and I feel like in a way they discriminated my son. I felt as if they thought my son was the bad kid and they had to pick on him. If your child’s social cues ain’t how they would expect it to be they might have a problem. It’s almost as if the teachers didn’t want to have to deal with a child who isn’t as socially developed as another child. It was too much work for them, they just kept saying it was not safe for my son or the students in class. Like I mention I never claimed it was okay for my son to behave any way. I’m just saying they know he’s only a 4 year old child. He’s still learning and I don’t think they had the patience for him to get the help he needed from the behavioral health clinic. The director also mentioned that there was parents complaining about having their kids in school because of my son. It’s sad because he’s not like a criminal or something he’s just a little boy learning. He’s not developed the same way as other children. I believe there was some discrimination in this situation.
