I have been a lifeguarding instructor for 10 years and recently went to renew my instructor certification. I was referred by a friend, due to limited availability of instructor trainers across Southern California, and had a wonderful experience. Lui took training and lifeguarding very serious knowing that the training can one day save a life. Even with my experience, I still learned a lot and was able to provide my own feedback that I hope was useful to others as well. I would definitely recommend this training to anyone looking to become a lifeguard or an instructor. I will also be going back for renewals in the future.

Get your lifeguard certification through this company if you:

-Don’t want clear communication leading up to your certification. Especially regarding rescheduling, questions regarding the facility, and what to bring
-Have no need for a daily schedule, including lunch, breaks, when you’ll take Your written exam, and whether to arrive to the pool or the classroom
- Would like the company owner and head instructor Luis to talk down to
You, interrupt your answers to questions, and accuse you of arguing when you’re asking a question
-Generally don’t feel the need to be treated like a thoughtful, learning lifeguard and future peer.

Mike was a very good instructor, and I feel prepared to act as a lifeguard leaving this class. But, if you want the minimum decent respect deserving of a person, I highly recommend you look into other companies. The owner of the company Luis enjoys the power he holds and exercises it regularly and disrespectfully over his clients. Did not feel like his goal was to provide a safe learning environment.

Straight to the point. I got my lifeguard instructor cert through this company and I enjoyed the experience. Lui had our class along side his partner mike's lifeguard class. We had hands on experience in instructing our own class. Lui's attention in detail and breakdown made me feel more confident after leaving his class.

About four years ago, I took a lifeguarding class with Lui as the instructor. After the course, I was recommended to look into lifeguard instructing. I could not take the instructor class because I was 16 then, but I took the class for lifeguarding instructors years later. I was paired with Noah, someone very knowledgeable and professional about his craft. This is the go-to place for anything lifeguarding related 5/5.

They exemplify what a professional lifeguard and rescuer should be capable of doing. The only way someone would not pass this class is if they didn’t not listen or take it serious. Lui and his team are the best, and I don't say that lightly. It is so important when choosing a Red Cross class that you select an instructor who values safety above all else, and Lui does. He makes sure that his participants are prepared to save a life if necessary, and you walk away from his class with a strong understanding of the knowledge and skills of the course. He has a great sense of humor, so his classes are engaging, but always maintains the necessary seriousness that reflects the content of the course. Definitely recommend!
