I have been studying Italian at Bend Language Institute for probably five years. I started in beginner level with Christina and slowly moved up to Italian 4 now, with Michela. I'm so thankful this exists in Bend because there is nothing better than in-person learning when it comes to language acquisition. You just must have an opportunity to speak the new language. I also took a few of their shorter courses (like the food one where we learned about a different Italian region each week and all brough pot-luck style snacks!) The school is in a great location, the rooms are perfect for a variety of sizes of classes and I love going to the free Multi-Lingual Monday to practice my Italian. The best part is that I've met a bunch of really nice people and met some great new friends who are interested in practicing outside of class.

If you have been saying that you want to learn a language, I highly recommend checking out Bend Language Institute!!

I signed up for German Grammar I class beginning in April and didn't realize that this is an ongoing class with most students having attended for many months. First class was covering Nominative, Accusative, and Dative articles in relation to direct and indirect objects. I can barely count to 10 in German. The instructor is quite friendly and has great pronunciation but this is not a beginners class unfortunately 🙁 I have a Master's degree to teach English Language Learners and I'm fluent in a second language but this was beyond my abilities. I was advised to ask the instructor questions and I did during the first class and asked for the previous materials so I could study up and she said I would "pick it up as we went along".

Creative, comfortable learning environments, excellent instructors and others with the same objectives if you enjoy small group classes. If a group is not for you, private lessons at a very reasonable cost.

I did a series of private one-on-one French lessons and had a great experience! It was fun. The teacher worked with customizing the lessons based on what I needed, and he also specifically focused on topics I was interested in. Communication with BLI was straight-forwaed and timely, and I'd definitely sign up for other future opportunities.

I've been taking French classes at Bend Language Institute for a few years now and would highly recommend it if you're thinking about joining. The group classes are a great way to practice with other French speakers/learners, and the weekly cadence holds me accountable to practicing. Catherine is a great teacher! Her classes are well balanced with grammar, literature, and conversation. She meets the students where they're at and tailors class levels and topics to the specific group.
