I can’t thank American Southwest Credit Union enough! They approved me for a $14,000 auto loan, helping me and my son get a reliable SUV! As a single dad, this means EVERYTHING. Having a dependable vehicle will make life so much easier for us—getting to work, school, and all the little things in between.

The process was smooth, the team was kind and professional, and they truly made me feel like more than just a number. If you need a bank that actually cares, this is the one!

Please don’t bank here if you would like a smooth transition for your family or executor in the case of your passing, because it’s a very lengthy process, (clearly speaking…literally months) before financial assets are released to settle an estate. They only have one death accounts officer, and they repeatedly give that as, what is supposed to be, a legitimate reason for the excessive delay. They do not have the ability to open an estate account because they are not a bank. They are a credit union. So all funds need to be transferred to a bank when (or if) they ever get to the task of addressing the account of the deceased.

DO NOT BELIEVE A WORD THEY SAY IN THEIR RESPONSES TO NEGATIVE REVIEWS! Every word is a bunch of hot air it's a bunch of baloney they don't mean a word they say. Read how many one-star reviews they got and listen to those people in the one-star reviews because they are telling the truth. If you read these reviews and still either open an account or keep an account with this poor excuse for a banking institution then you got what you deserve. Worst Credit Union I've ever dealt with period. We have a credit card with them and had not used it for some time. We had to make a purchase with it and found that it was blocked so I called to ask why and they said because you had not used it and it was a sizable purchase. So I said it's a legitimate purchase please unblock the card. They told me we can't because she's not in the office. I'm not kidding they're fraud department consists of one woman and she was on vacation so I couldn't use my card until she got back. So I went to pay the card off the other day online and it would not let me transfer money to the card from my real Bank. I had to go and get cash from my real bank and go to the credit union and pay it in person and who knows when it will actually show up they said it might be two or three days. Every time I sign online it tells me it does not recognize the device and I have to go out and grab my phone where I left it and put the code in every single time. There's so much more I wish there was a zero Stars rating to give

So far, so bad. They copied down an account number wrong and delayed a transfer by 10+ days in so doing. I've been fighting to get the debit card to work, and after 3 weeks, phone calls, and trying to get it fixed various ways, it still does not work. I tried to put cash into my account and the teller took 27 minutes to give me a receipt.

As I'm planning a trip and don't want to wander around with $5000 cash on me in a foreign country, the debit card debacle is extremely bad news. Worse than bad news, it's DANGEROUS. I have CDs with them and now am braced that when they mature, something else will go wrong. As nothing has gone right yet, is it any wonder that's my attitude.

If it were one error, I'd say "gosh, people make mistakes." It's five errors now, which says to me, "Gosh, they're incompetent by choice or by incompetence in the system."

i’ve never had such a pleasure in taking out an auto loan as I did through ASCU. from my first interaction with a representative at the bank in Sierra Vista through the incredibly straightforward and easy loan application process with the loan manager to finalizing a loan, the entire process was excellent. I cannot give them enough credit for understanding what great customer service looks like.

I’ve been a member of ASCU for over 30 years and was employed there until nearly a decade ago. After reading some of the negative reviews, I felt compelled to share my perspective.

Many of the complaints I’ve seen on Google reviews seem to come from misunderstandings about basic personal finance, with blame unfairly placed on employees. The truth is, your money is your responsibility. The employees at ASCU go above and beyond to assist members, but they can’t fix issues if you don’t keep your account information updated or fail to communicate with them.

If a manager tells you that you need a routing number (not your account number), or that your account was frozen due to lack of contact, that’s not incompetence — it’s standard procedure to protect your account.

During my time both as a member and employee, I saw firsthand how much ASCU staff genuinely care about helping people achieve their financial goals. I learned so much from my co-workers and the members I interacted with. Their support has had a lasting impact on my own financial well-being.

ASCU is a great credit union, and I’ll always appreciate the people behind it.

Horrible company. They lock you out of your accounts when they have the most basic of questions. Their customer service people are rude and won't help you. You'd be better off keeping money under your mattress.

Edit: i did try contacting customer service. They were the ones that decided to lecture me. We will see if they lecture the CFPB too.

This is the worst bank to bank with i was trying to write a check off to someone they gave me false information and contradict them self. Not just that when u remind them of what was said the day prior they deny it and wont go over camaras. And also the manager heard the conversation the day prior and acts like she doesnt know anything about it. I tried calling corporate but havent heard back.
