The Miami Sudbury School tremendously enhances children’s lives by offering a free, supportive, and safe community environment. All of the staff are incredible at fostering this space. By attending their events alone, I have met the most confident, articulate, creative kids who know themselves and what they want out of life. Hats off to a splendid school and the magic of self-directed education!

This school has been such an amazing place for our boys. I only wish we had discovered it sooner for our oldest! We came across this school after our middle child had a very traumatic experience in their traditional school ******trigger even though some staff members tried their best to accommodate for his needs. The event was too traumatic causing him to even have panic attacks just being in public unable to talk anyone especially to adults. They focus on his Academics forgetting he was primarily a bilingual child who mainly spoke Spanish and was learning English at school but at the moment was needing emotional support.
Due to the GUIDES at this school Both of my boys have done such an amazing change I barley Recognize them. So independent creative, leaders they are enjoying reading on their own bc they choose their own materials. My husband is impressed at their level of reading and math Comprehension even though they are not technically taking those type of course. It’s the way the school works, how they are leaders and coming home with wanting to create family meetings where we all can voice our opinions and get a chance to vote in a healthy way. THIS HAS BEEN THE BEST Decision

My son loves his school and is disappointed when there is a day off. After 5 months, he is more confident and independent and learning skills he will need as an adult. I now get to be mom without the added stress of schedule keeper, homework manager and driller of test question duties. I am so happy we made this change for all of us.

My kids love their school, they miss it on the weekends and can’t wait to go back to school after holidays. Not many parents can say that about their kids. I believe strongly in self-directed education and encourage all parents to look into it. Also the staff at the school are great, they are very respectful and supportive and work hard to create this unique opportunity for truly alternative education for our children. ♥️♥️♥️

This school undoubtedly changed my life. During the 3 years I spent at the Miami Sudbury School, I learned more than I ever had in the 10 years I attended Miami-Dade County Public Schools. I learned not only how to effectively problem solve (among a very diverse group of students!), but my self esteem and overall well-being improved tremendously. The guidance and support provided by the staff members is incomparable to anything I have ever experienced in the public school system. In allowing you to be the leader of your own education, and empowering you to make your own decisions, they create an environment where you’re free to expand on and explore your own interests. With similar responsibilities to those in the real world, you’re given a chance to learn and practice skills in a low-stakes environment that you will take with you for the rest of your life. My time at the Miami Sudbury School ultimately fueled my continued success, as I am now a Junior at Northeastern University planning my postgraduate studies.
