We had a great experience with Huntington Learning Center. My child’s score went up 160 points- from 1400 on his first practice test to a 1560 on the August 2024 SAT. I really liked the one-on-one tutoring focused on my child’s strengths and weaknesses. We did a tailored plan. They worked with our crazy schedule. Director Mike, the staff, and all the teachers were easy to work with. I have already recommended them to many of my friends.

We recently used Huntington Learning Center to help prepare our son to retake the SAT. We were very happy with the individual attention and review of the practice tests to focus on the specific concepts where he could concentrate his efforts. He was able to increase his SAT score 240 points (1330 to a 1570) which exceeded our expectations, and we would recommend their SAT prep services to anyone interested in maximizing their student’s prep time.

As a mother of a 13-year-old boy, I am thrilled to write this review about Huntington Learning Center. My son started tutoring at Huntington when he was 12 years old, after struggling in his 6th-grade classes and lacking confidence in his academic abilities. I cannot express enough how grateful and appreciative I am for the positive impact that Huntington has had on my son's academic and personal growth.

Before starting tutoring, my son was almost failing 6th grade and had a hard time keeping up with the classwork. He was becoming increasingly frustrated and losing confidence in himself. As a mother, it was heartbreaking to watch my son struggle and feel like he was not good enough. However, since he started attending Huntington, he has become a different person.

The personalized attention and tailored approach provided by the tutors at Huntington have helped my son improve his grades, gain confidence, and develop a love for learning. The tutors at Huntington have been incredibly patient and supportive, helping him master challenging concepts and guiding him through difficult homework assignments.

Thanks to Huntington Learning Center, my son's grades have improved significantly, and he has consistently been on the honor roll every marking period since he started tutoring. More importantly, my son's confidence in his academic abilities has grown tremendously. My daughter started going to the Huntington learning center since she started her freshman year of high school and she's now a senior! She's had the opportunity to work with multiple tutors who've helped across different subjects. Aside from helping her academically in school, when it came time for her to prepare for her SAT they helped her through it. During the process, she took multiple practice SATs and they focused on areas that were weaker which result in her score increasing each practice test she took. I'm very grateful for the extra help HLC has given my daughter throughout her high school years and the contribution to her excellent academic performance. Thanks Mike and your staff.

My wife is a kindergarten teacher, and I am in social work. As our daughter finished eighth grade, she was earning good grades, but we saw her struggling more than she ever had. Her test scores were sagging, and homework was more frustrating. She didn’t show and obvious difficulty reading, but we suspected she was having difficulties extrapolating information, and was feeling significant test anxiety. Conferences didn’t offer much insight. Her teachers would say, “she’d doing fine, she’s well-behaved, there’s nothing to worry about!” Knowing those in class with the most behavioral or academic difficulties garner most of a teacher’s focus, we suspected our daughter was “flying under the radar,” and in need of additional help.

As a teacher, my wife was familiar with Huntington and knew they had a strong reputation. In August of 2022, before her freshman year, our daughter completed an assessment at Huntington. After the assessment, Michael went over the results, and based on the results, posited where he thinks our daughter has difficulties. His evaluation was so spot on it was eerie. Michael recommended about 180 hours of tutoring, focusing on reading comprehension and some math skills the assessment showed she needed help with. Michael also went over the price structure for the program and several payment options. Our daughter attended Huntington on Tuesdays and Thursdays for two hours each day, and on Saturdays for two hours. Michael, Barb, and Mary Kate were very helpful with scheduling, and even assisted us in accommodating athletics when the time came.

Our daughter began her sessions in late August, finishing her program at Huntington in mid-April. We met with Michael monthly, and he did a remarkable job explaining their content and what our daughter was working on, and next steps. Ultimately, our daughter earned honor roll for each of the last three quarters. She articulated more ease in reading comprehension elements, homework becoming easier, feeling more calculated, and in-control, and even less test anxiety. She is no longer rushing through her work, or guessing an answer when she becomes frustrated or challenged.

What I appreciated most about Huntington, and Michael, was the organization’s ability to be encouraging, fostering a bond with our daughter and making what could be a monotonous tutoring session a partnership. Our daughter wasn’t always enthusiastic about going but would readily admit Huntington was helping, and the skills learned there will be ones she can take with her in academia.

While the total sum of money for the program was at first overwhelming, when we examined the hourly rate, the rate was on par for what my wife, a teacher, knew to be standard for an accredited tutoring service. We are civil servants and not wealthy people, but this money was one of the best financial decisions we have ever made. Thank you, Huntington, and Michael. Without question, Huntington changed our daughter’s academic trajectory for the better. We are all grateful.
