i had my first trial session, tutor was great.
can someone from preply explain the 'logic' of charging processing fee for securing payment where the payment is done through credit card? if i am not mistaken, the minute i pay through my credit card, amount will be deducted from my card, why the 'love' you need to 'secure' your payment and you charge to your customer?
its a very nice platform except their greedy approach,
no worries, me kind of consumers are most probably <10% so you lose 10% but keep continue charging to other 90% and one day a competitor will come and you will revise your approach, best, mee

Amazing website that offers tutoring services by connecting students and tutors around the world. Mostly used around the world for language learning say English or any other language one can think of, but also has variety of school and university level subjects as well. Site has tools to filter and search, offers different payment options and runs by “pay as you use” with some incentive packages if toturs choose to do so. That source should be heavily exploited by more users in Central Asia, however i know in Europe it is rather popular and well utilised source of education. One can teach there too, like i did many years ago teaching English and Russian to students from 50+ different countries. Thought sharing this website might be beneficial to my followers and to people who might stumble upon this review and find it helpful in their effort to get more formalised education rather than adhoc read and listen mode learning.

I used the platform to improve my English and to learn Spanish. I enjoyed the journey and liked the tools: learning materials, integrated video, vocabulary. It's like everything in one place, so you stay focused on achieving your goals. Preply app is also very convenient, you can keep in touch with your tutor and literally study on the go.

Poor lessons, ineffective customer support, and technical issues remained unresolved, and unresponsive agents who lack the accountability and disappear for hours if not days……Requested a refund for the remaining subscription balance due to services not meeting expectations and not meeting the standards mentioned in their polcies…. but they rejected the request!!! I escalated the issue, to emphasize my right to a refund based on the discrepancy between services received and their standards outlined on Preply's website…unfortunately, they never responded ….though the email was not only to fix a personal issue but to underscores the importance of upholding the commitments and standards that are “supposed to be” central to their reputation…. It was not only about they losing me as a customer but I highlight their unprofessional communication, my frustration, and the significant time and money lost over three months… I will never hold back from taking whatever action necessary to get my rights and retaliate for the frustration they caused to me over these 3 weeks..

Absolutely stellar! Tetiana S. deserves a gold star for making Physics and SAT Math enjoyable. My son no longer thinks these subjects are a mystery wrapped in an enigma. Thanks for unraveling the secrets of the universe and math with such wit and expertise. You're not just a tutor, you're a magician!

I have subscribed for preply around 2 months ago. And during all this time I had experienced nothing but technical problems:
1. I've applied for regular weekly lessons with a teacher, and expected them to auto-schedule each week. But it didn't happen. And the teacher with whom we agreed to have a lesson next Monday, contacted me and asked why I didn't schedule my lesson for the next Monday. After that we scheduled all the lessons manually.
2. In 50% of cases I couldn't login into my account on Preply before the lesson, so we were forced to move to Skype to conduct the lessons. And the first time when it happened, it took around 15min of 1 hour lesson to figure out how to connect to the teacher if the platform doesn't work.
3. Finally, 2 months later, when I actually stopped taking the lessons, though still had some money on my account, the platform unexpectedly autoscheduled those Monday lessons that it didn't schedule 2 month ago. As I was on vacation at that time, I even didn't know that some lessons are scheduled on my behalf, and thus I lost around 50EUR on the lessons I didn't have.
4. When I wrote to support to complain and get my money back, they wrote to me that it was me who autoscheduled the lessons, so they will not return my money.

I am really disappointed with the platform and will stop using it as soon as I spend all the money left on my account.

Reflects all feelings:
Ask yourself one question: Would you work for free?
As a teacher on Preply you are required by their terms to deliver your first lesson for free. So let's look at this more closely. Let's say you have 10 new students, all of which pay Preply for the lesson. As it is their first lesson with you, you do not get any money for this. Zero. So you have effectively worked between 5 and 10 hours and not been paid a dime. Nothing. с

Furthermore, after your 'freebie' lesson and Preply have made a full days wage off you whilst you earned nothing, they take 33% of your hourly rate per hour taught. I just want to clarify this further:

1. Register
2. Start getting limited interest from students.
3. Deliver a free lesson to every new student.
4. 10 new students = 10 hours free unpaid work..
5. If student is happy and they rebook you, knock 33% off your rate.
6. Be grateful to Preply and leave 5 star fake reviews.

Apparently they have 70,000 tutors but Preply Head Office employs around 50 people. Let's do some maths. Let's be generous and underestimate teacher's rates. $10 per hour. All first lessons are free. That's 70,000 x $10 = $700k of which they owe you and give you nothing. Each student of which there are over 100,000 book 5 hour prepaid lessons.
100,000 x 5 hours = 500,000 hours (5 is the minimum hours students can book)
500,000 x $10 x 33% = $1.6million

These figures are grossly underestimated but what is even funnier is that you deliver your lessons over SKYPE! They only offer an elegant booking system!!

AVOID.
