This was my first time visiting this location, as I usually go to the West Hollywood one. While the atmosphere and aesthetics were great, the service and food were disappointing. I arrived around 3:30 pm, and it wasn’t busy at all, yet the server seemed annoyed to help. After finding a table, we waited about 10 minutes to order, despite the place being nearly empty. It then took another 15-20 minutes for the food to arrive, and when it did, it didn’t taste nearly as good as the West Hollywood location.

To make matters worse, they never brought out chips and salsa, nor did they offer any sauces for our tacos. I had to ask the server about it, and she informed me that the owner instructed them to only provide chips and salsa upon request. For a chain restaurant, standards should be consistent across all locations.

I love the West Hollywood location, but this one doesn’t deserve any stars until they fix their service and food quality. I recommend sticking with West Hollywood for now.

So lucky to have Tu Madre reopen in the neighborhood. Thanks for creating such a well designed, stylish, wonderful space! Great vibes and even better food. The staff/bartender are so friendly.
I don’t know what the other reviewers are talking about. Maybe show some grace when a restaurant first opens so they can work through their processes?

This location just opened two weeks ago. I LOVE the West Hollywood location, but this location in Larchmont is going to need some work. The food was underwhelming. I ordered the same items I usually order at the other location but for some reason they just didn't taste as good. I ordered two of the plant-based tacos, tacos were a bit soggy. They weren't bad, but they weren't anything to write home about. The street corn was mid at most. My sister was visiting from out of town and I was excited to bring her here, when I asked if she liked the food she said it was ok, but not great.

What was most disappointing was the service. Since they just opened I would think the servers would be trained to be very friendly, welcoming, and want to share as much about the menu as possible. That wasn't the case, our server was nice, but didn't feel warm or welcoming at all. There were only two tables occupied in the whole restaurant so I don't think she was busy or overwhelmed, but maybe. One of the plates I received was peeling a bit and I showed the server and she pulled off the peeling part and handed me back the plate. I kindly asked for a new plate.

This location is closer to me so I hope they improve, I'll try again in a month.

They got our order mixed up but the bartender was new and learning. Overall great food and great service. Bartender had great personality and made it fun.

We loved it! Fabulous neighborhood restaurant & bar. Very charming... Loved sitting at the cozy bar! Bailey the bartender and the servers were so sweet and friendly. Our spicy margaritas were fantastic as were the chips and quesadillas. Very happy they moved to my neighborhood.

It feels like this place put all their effort into decorations, and fancy drinks and the food suffered greatly. The service was fine, but they forgot one of the apps we ordered but didn't end up charging us for it. The interior was beautiful, good music, clean bathroom and lovely lighting, but the food was not good. First of all, we ordered 8 tacos and it was nearly $100. The food was either very over seasoned or very under seasoned, the tortillas were completely devoid of any salt or other flavor and pretty dry, they were also served cold. The grilled fish taco was solid, the fish had 0 salt on it though, and there's no way that 1 taco should be $8. The chicken Al pastor was also solid, but the chicken was a bit tough and dry, it tasted good though. The kbbq taco tasted like it had been steeped in soy sauce, the beef was pretty dry somehow also. The fried potato taco was not a taco, more like overcooked croquettes on a store bought tortilla. I can't respect a taco place in LA that charges $5+ per taco and doesn't make their own tortillas, or at least buy from a local tortilla maker, theirs obviously tasted store bought (tough + no salt whatsoever).

This is apparently a new location, so maybe the others are better and this one still needs time to figure it out, but overall some of the worst tacos for the price one had in LA.

Service really needs improvement. Our server barely welcomed us. He took our food order and forgot one item, when I asked if it was coming he said oh yes and brought it, didn't apologize or said anything. He didn't come and ask how the food was. So we had to call him to ask about the food missing. The restaurant was NOT busy at all. When we paid and left a tip, he barely said thank you and left. It's a bummer because I love Tu Madre, the other locations are great, and I brought my father in law from out of town having high expectations about this new location. I highly recommend the other locations, the service is great, food is great.
