finally stopped by here after walking by it for a year… atmosphere is a good vibe with a great covered patio seating area. always a fan when there’s a flight option — in this case margaritas. also ordered three tacos a la carte — ahi tuna, kbbq and chicken banh mi. all had distinctive and good flavor. bartender who was the server was also super friendly. will definitely go back!

A beautiful hidden gem in West hollywood. Very cozy outdoor seating with romantic vibes, and tacos that will scintillates your taste buds. I got the Korean barbecue braised beef Street taco, which comes with pickled fresnos and cilantro. The first bite was divine, sweet and tangy. Next up was the fried chicken and tacos, which comes with spicy honey, poblano Ranch slaw and fermented Fresno chili. It has a little kick to it, and the crunchy chicken exterior is balanced by the tender juicy chicken. Only problem is I need 10 of each to fill me up. They are pretty small.

Tu Madre is a cute little taqueria just off of Santa Monica, with absolutely amazing food. We ordered an array of tacos, all of which impressed:

Fried Chicken: 9/10
Sweet N Sour Chicken: 8/10
Crispy potato: 10/10
Crispy fish: 9/10
KBBQ street taco: 10/10
Carne Asada: 8/10
Brisket: 8/10

I've previously ordered food from Tu Madre via a delivery app and the food is equally as good. The one warning I'll give for the tacos is that they aren't the biggest portions, and they're served on individual plates. If you have a small table, you may run out of space if you order enough tacos to be satisfied.

In addition to the large selection of tacos, they have an equally diverse drink menu. They offer margaritas by the pitcher, flight, and glass. If you order the flights, they come with a sparkler (as I said, the place is cute) for your social media memories. If you're not in a margarita mood, they also offer other cocktails and a sad selection of beer. I got a Madre Passion, which was spectacular, and my partner ordered a Deeply Rooted Issues, which was very citrusy.

Tu Madre would be well on its way to five stars if it weren't for one thing. Service can be slow, which is the reason for dropping a star on the overall rating. I noticed the speed of service depended on where you sat. Unfortunately for us, we weren't at an advantageous table. I think we talked to our real server once. He didn't take our order, bring the food, or help us with the check. He checked in once or twice, but that was it. Thankfully, we were heading someplace else after dinner and didn't want a second drink. Otherwise, we might still be sitting there.

Overall, go to Tu Madre for the food. Or, if you live close enough, order via a delivery app and enjoy the food without the annoyance of being ignored.

I was a bit disappointed. I ordered 2 tacos KBBQ and the Fried Fish. Received what I thought was street tacos, but no their regular tacos are street sized. The KBBQ was marinated for something like 24 hours, I found it a bit chewy, not tender. The fried fish taco wasn't crispy but soggy. Our waiter was non-existent after serving. Our table of 5 quickly emptied our single water pitcher. I don't like leaving this type of review but management needs to know. Hope your experience is better than mine.

Y’all! I love this place and have frequented several times but this past Monday was my favorite. Mariah (sorry if it’s spelled incorrectly) was the sweetest while taking our order and serving us. Not sure if she was on her lunch or left for the day but we didn’t get to say bye.

Food and drinks are sooooo delicious. Please go for the happy hour. Everything is always so colorful and vibrant. The decor makes you feel as if you’re visiting another city. Service was amazing. All our food arrived fairly promptly and it never felt like we were left alone by staff for too long. Had some food leftover and yummm, it was delish!!!

Food was pretty tasty. The drinks on point and the vibe was pretty chill. Good indoor and outdoor seating and decor. That said…wasn’t particularly taken by the service. Food is brought out in batches and on the same plate regardless of who on your table placed the order.
Party of 4 : We all placed our order at the same time (2-3 tacos each) - I got my 1st taco out, but had to wait while the rest of my table got their order. Meanwhile one of my friends only got his 1st taco around the time the rest of us were on our 3rd order which was kinda awkward….Idk…the service style seems to make it more complicated than what it has to be.

A hidden gem! You will definitely miss this place if you don't look for it because it's hidden amongst the houses in the neighborhood. You order and pay before you are seated and the environment is relaxed and chill. The servers and staff were friendly and quick to serve your order. It's upscale and a little pricey but the food is worth it. They have great tacos and are served excellently. They taste very fresh and pop with great flavor. The music and vibe they create is friendly and engaging and makes you feel you are at a neighbors cookout rather than a restaurant. Highly recommend going here for great food and service.

Do not eat here if you have allergies. I am unfortunately allergic to gluten (celiac). I was assured my meal was safe however it was not. I ate there last evening and was ill after and had been since. I will never go back there. It is a mostly outdoor place. My friend and I were underwhelmed by the food. It felt like a place effort has gone to die. The water was tepid, no ice, and the pitcher was not clean. The floor was gravel which was a choice, but not one I'd make. I was served in a metal bowl, which felt a bit like a pet food dish. I'm not sure what they are going for here, but I felt like I was an outdoor pet rather than at a restaurant.
