I started volunteering with Tutoring Chicago several months ago. It has been a great experience. I am very impressed by their high level of organization, and their thoughtful and effective programming. Many nonprofits, while seeking to do good work, are quite disorganized. This can be very frustrating when you are volunteering your time to support them. I am happy to say that no such frustration occurs with Tutoring Chicago. They are extremely well run and my time with them feels very well spent. I have done volunteer tutoring before and it was nothing like this! Highly recommended.

Tutoring Chicago is the best volunteer experience I've ever had. They thoughtfully consider each piece of the program and do everything in their power to serve the best interest of their students. I have developed a wonderful relationship with the 4th grader who I tutor. It's so much more than just helping with his math homework, it's providing a space for a child to build a relationship with a trusted adult and to develop self-confidence. A wonderful organization - I am grateful to be a part of it!

I just started as a tutor for Tutoring Chicago this year. I have loved it! The program has shown impressive results over the years in helping kids to improve their reading and math abilities. It is very organized and offers solid training/support to tutors. And it's really fun to build a relationship with the child that is assigned to you -- to watch him/her grow in ability and confidence throughout the year. And fun to get to know the other volunteers.

Tutoring Chicago is a great organization! The staff is amazingly helpful and supportive to all the tutors and students. You get to know your student and their parents over the course of the year as you work with them on a weekly basis. The sites are well organized with great site leaders so you can always get guidance or questions answered. If you're looking to give back to the community this organization is a a fun and helpful way to do it!

This is an excellent way to give back to the community. I have tutored the same student for three years now, and have had the privilege of witnessing all of his academic and personal growth. This experience has been very transformative for me as well - sometimes I wonder if I have learned more from my student than he has from me! Do not be intimidated by the fact that this volunteer opportunity involves young children! Tutoring Chicago's program structure offers plenty of resources and training, and tutoring occurs within a greater classroom unit that is there to help support you and your student. Please consider helping the children of Chicago, because a little bit of time given consistently over a period of time makes a huge impact 🙂
