Karen worked with my son his sophomore and junior year and we saw improvements in his study skills and confidence as a student. She helped him develop a greater understanding of his strengths and weaknesses, which in turn helped him focus on a strategy for tackling assignments. We also saw a drastic difference in his writing skills. Karen helped him learn to produce a paper/essay with a greater diversity in vocabulary, improved grammar and more organized content. Karen is down to earth and approachable, which made my son feel comfortable to share his academic concerns, frustrations and feel understood. She also challenged him and held him accountable, which is great!

Karen is a lifesaver! My son started seeing Karen to work on his writing and grammar skills. In addition, Karen has helped him with organizational/study skills and ACT/SAT prep. Karen has taught my son certain strategies and study skills that can be used in school or at home when studying....certain ways that he can relate to. I’ve contacted Karen many times when my son is overwhelmed with a school assignment or just life. Karen takes care of it! Tutoring is not my son’s favorite thing to do, but he always returns home after a session with Karen feeling much more positive and always says he is glad he went! Karen is a retired middle school English Language Arts teacher. She has a specialized practice that is tailored to the individual student's needs. Her students range in age from elementary to college level. She also offers an effective SAT preparation.

Our son started working with Karen several years ago while in the sixth grade. He was falling behind and struggling in his English Language Arts class, specifically cold reading and testing. She has taught him strategic study skills, test taking strategies and an overall elevation of grammar and writing that have maximized his academic performance. He has gone from a D to a high B student. In addition, he enjoys his time with Karen and is working toward academic success in high school.

Karen has been amazing with my son! Her ability to get his cooperation with school work while increasing his confidence is incredible. She understands kids with ADHD and has the patience and ability to help them own their mistakes, while encouraging their individual style and building their skills. She doesn’t give up on him when he is having a bad day, and consults with me on ideas to engage him. Our daughter has been seeing Ms. Kromenacker for almost three years and her academic skills have strengthened significantly during that time. Ms. Karen has mastered the struggles that our daughter has due to an ocular diagnosis and has been able to teach her strategies to use in the classroom and at home to be a successful student who is performing at her fullest potential. The academic gain has been rewarding but even more so is the confidence that our daughter has gained with Karen’s coaching and encouragement. Early on in our visits with Karen, it was readily recognized that she would be far more than a tutor.
