My son has been attending Sylvan of Glenview for 5 months now. He was initially worried about attending sessions but that has come to an end! They are addressing his handwriting and reading goals using books he is reading on his own and his school expectations to address goals within their methods. Coordinating his care in this way is so efficient and also part of the reason his anxiety about attending has disappeared. I think he understands the adults in his life are all on his “team” and he has such good relationship with all the teachers. Thank you, Sylvan!

We are new to Sylvan, but are very happy so far with the experience! My son has had several sessions and says he has the best time and can’t wait for his next class. The level of engagement makes all the difference in a child’s learning journey and Sylvan keeps him interested. My 2nd grader has grown leaps and bounds in his reading and math skills. He is performing above grade level in skills that he was struggling with and his teachers are supportive and cheer him on. He usually works with Mr. Tom, who explains things clearly to him, is patient, and always finds a way to explain things so my child gets it and it “clicks”! All the staff is wonderful and we are so happy to have found this place! Also, Ms. Keeley is an angel with scheduling and keeping us informed on our son’s progress and challenges!

We started our daughter at Sylvan after the 2nd grade winter MAP testing revealed that she was reading in the 32nd percentile. We stayed with Sylvan until the end of 3rd grade when our daughter tested in the 88th percentile for reading. We were also moving otherwise we likely would have stayed longer to reinforce the progress our daughter has made.

Our daughter showed progress from day one all the way through to when we ended tutoring. There was no “summer slip”, and our daughter demonstrated significant progress during summer vs her peers. The continued progress was evident in her Sylvan testing and school MAP scores.

Sylvan provided frequent communication on academic progress. Their in person meetings were far more frequent than parent teacher conferences. This helped guide our at home activities.

One thing to note - We have a very dialed in (self aware of her reading capabilities vs peers) and self motivated 3rd grader. She was generally eager to improve and did not put up resistance to tutoring. She also worked well within the Sylvan format. Our results are likely due to a combination of many things and student engagement is likely very important for good results.

We are pleased with our daughters results and would recommend Sylvan to anyone with similar academic concerns.

After considering different options, my wife and I enthusiastically chose Sylvan Learning of Glenview so that our 5th grade DS could work on his writing. Keeley, the center director, thoroughly explained the center's meticulous plan and approach, and she made sure our son was getting the help he needed to achieve his writing goals. Now, my son constantly raves about his writing tutor, and after each session, he tells me rather excitedly how much he feels his writing has improved in such a short period of time.

We have been so happy with our Sylvan experience. Our kindergartner needed some extra help to make it all click, and Sylvan has been the place to make that happen. Our child is eager to attend his lessons and enjoys working with the supportive and engaging staff.
