It is the best school I’ve ever been to. I’ve made so many friends there. The teachers are so awesome. They really want you to learn a lot. They are so helpful when you really need it. I really loved the horticulture classes they had. When you go to school there, there is no such thing as giving up. Please give the school a chance if you’re thinking about going to school there. If I could I’d give it 100 stars.

I attended this school from the age of 12 through 18 and have several friends that have attended it as well.. Let me start by saying the ciriculum is lacking how is it it only requires 16 credits to graduate but they tell your family you will recieve a better education than the one your getting in public school. There is a prooben math defficincy going back to the 1960's so what are the teachers teaching. How are kids that are required to be legally blind to attend are allowed to take drivers ed at Jacksonville High School. Yet the school doesn't allow kids to check out liberary books unless they say their okay meaning grade school level. And have even distroyed books to keep kids from checking them out. My husband's name is the only wrestler to take the school to Nationals and is painted on the gym wall yet he hasn't been allowed to show our children because he wrote a petition while in school stating we had the right to a better education and the staff threatened the kids with punishment if we signed it. I also was part of a history making swim team yet our children can't see our plack. And as a senior I was nearly raped by another student and even with witnesses and evidence nothing was done. This school has produced more babies than successful students someone needs to look into it.

This is the worst school for the blind you could ever visit. From the outside it may seem like a mile right place. But on the inside you're treated like an animal. The academic suck There is literally nowhere school you could ever go to. Going to the school makes you lose brain cells Never send your child to the school. If you care about their future.

it's a great place learn although back in those days math skills were lacking I attended for 3 years it was here are the cool things, great independent living skills training, awesome coaches who treated one fairly but also gave strict discipline, and they also gave lots of encouragement I enjoyed both of them in my public school I was told I could never r do any sports or PE , the food could have been better nurses, could have been better they had a gripy attitude about them so most of the time would see doctor on my own or bring my own over the counter meds, the teachers were great although math was below par for everyone, but over all it is a good school all around, it's been quite a few years since I was their so I don't knoe the current climate of the school but I do thank them showing how to live on my own to to be somebody, my public school did not care for anyone differently abled this was elverado district 196 in elkville Illinois, I discovered isvi, by reading a magazine article, I then begged my mother to let me go she did not want me to go far away from her but I finally got my wish and got to go, so I tahnk my mother and isvi for me becoming who I am today I am very happy in my life and a lot of friends and two degrees later I still remember the good times had their who else rembers quiet days on the Glider, smile
