Spontaneous adventure today! We haven’t been here in 20 years! Even though it’s only 7 miles from home, we just don’t think about it! Well, haven’t. We will now! We back to open space but sometimes it’s nice to see and walk a different path. And pretty flat paths at that! The Nature Center itself is small but nice. We chatted with David quite a bit and learned about Colorado’s tarantulas, what?! and put to rest some urban myths about rattlesnakes vs bull snakes. Both of which we have seen in our yard and neighborhood. Good information👍 We are currently sitting on a bench in view of the Nature Center, enjoying this incredible weather. We just saw a very healthy looking coyote who seemed to be quite interested and completely unafraid of us, as our metro coyotes tend to be. We saw the beaver dam but no beavers. It’s just quite the peaceful place really. You can hear traffic if you listen and the occasional train horn but there is also birdsong and children calling out and laughing. What a great place! We are certainly glad to be reintroduced.

This Nature Center is completely FREE! It has so many displays, interactive toys, nature books, and live animals (snake, turtle, and a lizard!) It is so wonderful!!!!
If you are wanting to enjoy the inside portion of the center (and let me tell you, you do!), you should note their summer hours:
Monday & Tuesday: CLOSED
Wednesday-Friday: noon-4:30pm
Saturday & Sunday: 9am-4:30pm

ALSO, they do two kid hours every Thursday morning! 9:30-10:30 & 11-12 This program is different every Thursday. It is centered on a letter of the alphabet and usually includes puppets, interactive activities, singing, and discovery time on the trail.

I absolutely love it out here! Easily the best urban wildlife area in the area. There are birds of prey such as red-tailed hawks, great horned owls, and bald eagles swooping up above along with plenty of deer, coyotes, fox, and other mammals to check out at ground level. There's a nice variety of ecosystems represented here as well which means you can come back again and again and not see the same thing twice! Highly recommended for residents and visitors alike.

Good walking trails but came for the Nature Center and they closed it in the middle of the day for a staff meeting. Frustrating when hours online say one thing and we drove quite a ways to come on a day/time that they were open, only to find it closed. Maybe call before you go to ensure that they are, in fact, open during their posted hours. There was a small area outside with a dirt table to play in that the kids liked. Would love to update rating if/when we can make it back up.

A perfect place for families! There are so many programs and things to do. The naturalists are great, and the rangers come in to talk about wildlife, too! The property around the center has a bunch of cool areas to explore. It rocks!

What a great nature center! This little gem is tucked away, but it's a great find. A friendly, knowledgeable staff makes it evwn better. There is plentiful stuffed wildlife for children to explore as well as live animals like a box turtle, leopard salamander, and bull snake. There are also child-friendly trails right off the natur center. My 1.5 and 4 year olds loved it.

This nature center is beautiful and charming! There are bird feeders to watch in the native plant garden, ambassador animals like reptiles and amphibians to meet, and amazing staff to teach you all about Colorado nature. The trail system from the main building is flat and well maintained. This place is a very special natural oasis within urban Aurora!
