It just depends on who your therapist is. I had a negative experience with Lydia Lopez. She made me feel uncomfortable on numerous occasions but I always had hopes that our relationship would improve. She talked a lot and wasn't a very good listener. She felt very highly of herself and always made it be known, I feel like she did try to help at times but it was too much for her, she was very forgetful and I kept having to repeat things about myself that I had already told her so it was like starting from square one. She would often say rude things and make snide comments, I don't think that's what a counselor should do, they are supposed to lift us up and help us improve our self esteem. From the first visit she insisted that she "did hugs" I didn't feel comfortable hugging a stranger but I went along with it since I had low self esteem. She shouldn't have put me in that position. I finally decided to call it quits when she cancelled on me for the 3rd time. Years prior before seeing her I saw someone named Michelle who was really a great listener she was calm and waited for me to talk and open up to her on my own terms. I never felt rushed or forced to do anything. She was very kind and she helped me get through many trials
in my life I feel like I owe her so much. My only wish is that she still worked there. My advice is to try and find a therapist there that listens to you and that you feel comfortable with. CEC is really a great organization with great people especially Coleen at the front desk. She is always kind and a pleasure to be welcomed by.

These people literally saved my life. I was suffering from passive suicidal ideation due to a failed marriage and prescription morphine addiction. The drug had totally changed my personality and I was unable to recognize and process my very negative feelings and as a result was becoming increasingly difficult to live with. I took this medication as prescribed and did not abuse nor drink alcohol while taking it but it still caused addictive behaviors. I had no where to turn for help and then I found CEC and Sandy. These people are awesome and very good at there job. Get help Before not after your life is wrecked. This is the place for it.

Don’t expect much help from these people the counselors are okayish depending on what you need help working on. If it’s anything that requires them to work diligently and hard on major issues I’d advise you to look else ware. They will charge you for missing appointment (in my case even if you call). They will also treat you like a villain for disputing the charges. Finally, and most annoyingly if I were ever unable to make my appointment (at 2pm) and called to cancel as they open at 9am after three calls to cancel they remove you completely from scheduling even if it were for legitimate reasons (job interviews, being sick, vacation etc.) I highly suggest doing your research before ever going here.

i went here when I was in my last trimester of pregnancy. the only counselor that accepts Medicade was an older woman that I saw and it was a terrible experience!! she was very judgemental and a jerk. she asked me why I think I was a danger to my child?... in response to me saying I'm worried about being the best mother.. btw I've been a wonderful mother. that woman was aweful.

I've never met a more rude judgemnetal "counselor". Besides having a horrible attitude your counselor will also look at her watch every ten minutes and always leave early because she has other arrangements that she scheduled during your scheduled appointment.
