We had our first child at a birth center and felt empowered to do a home birth with our next. After learning about our second pregnancy, we interviewed midwives and felt Tawnya was the best fit for our family. We have loved every minute of our prenatal experiences so far. Tawnya brings so much knowledge to the table and has taught us a lot. We love her personal touch with our toddler being involved in our appointments as well. We can’t wait for our home birth.

I first met Tawnya about 8 years ago when i had my first pregnancy that sadly ended in miscarriage, when I found myself pregnant again and had another miscarriage Tawnya started to ask questions about family history, the things I had been experiencing and she thought maybe I had a thyroid issue due to the answers I provided to her. After years of questioning doctors if i had a thyroid issue she told me to ask for a specific test, I did have a thyroid issue. Finally a few years later I found myself pregnant again. Tawnya ended up delivering my two babies at home 19 months apart. If you are looking for a caring birth provider look no further. Tawnya takes the time to understand you and your personality in order to build you up to have the birthing experience that you envision. She’s very experienced, supportive and all around amazing! Without her it I believe it would have taken me many more twists and turns to be able to have kids. She is the most caring, loving birth worker. The postpartum visits were amazing she helped me so much, checking in, making sure we were ok. She takes her time to get to know her clients needs, the situation and really prepares you for your birth and postpartum journey. Thank you Tawnya for the work you do to build the confidence of your clients so we believe in ourselves and our bodies. She will help you to believe in yourself and believe that your body will do just what it’s meant to do to birth your baby. If you want the most positive home birth journey possible then Tawnya, the Montrose Midwife is the one for you.

I loved Tawnya as a midwife. We did our research and decided on a home birth a little after we found out we were pregnant with our first child. She was one of the only midwives in our area that did home births, and after meeting with her our decision was easy. She made every appointment low stress and easy, and it felt more like visiting a friend than a doctor’s office. Although we share different beliefs, she was always respectful of mine and strongly promoted parental wishes to be followed. I wanted a more hands off approach when it came to my care and pregnancy, and I got that but I always was able to contact Tawnya with questions or concerns. When it came time for me to deliver, there ended up being medical concerns that required me to go to the hospital. These were out of mine or my midwife’s control, and I greatly appreciated her honesty and knowledge when we had to make the decision to go to the hospital. I would highly recommend her services and will be going back for future pregnancies and births!

After one hospital birth and one failed homebirth with a different midwife, we used Tawnya for our third baby. She calmed all of our fears and we had an amazing experience. From prenatal appointments to the birth, she was professional but felt like a good friend and we have never experienced that with any provider before. The birth was smooth and calm and she let me labor exactly how I wanted to and followed my lead. She took great care of baby and I after labor and checked in every few days with us. Overall it was the most pleasant pregnancy and birth experience I've had from start to finish.

If I could give Tawnya 10 stars I would. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a home birth Midwife. When we first stared looking into a home birth midwife of course we had some concerns about delivering at home as all new parents are I think. Her prenatal care is excellent and her postpartum even better. She has delivered my daughter who is one now, and I can't even tell you what a difference she is compared to a hospital birth. She is compassionate, funny, calm, and can handle when to going gets tough and with grace. My first child I had during Covid I ended up in the hospital. Our plan was to have him at home with Tawnya as our Midwife. Through it all she handled the stress of the situation incredibly well. I couldn't have had my son without her calm aura. I couldn't believe how much rougher the hospital handles women in labor compared to my care I had with Tawnya during those nine months. She has made my dream of having children at home into a reality.

Having a provider who cared for my birth wishes, believed in my ability to birth, and was incredible at maintaining safety for me to birth was exactly what I needed to have the birth outcome I had wished for. I loved the postpartum care she provided coming to my home to visit me and my baby allowing us the rest we needed after such a life changing event. I am so thankful for her love and guidance through the transition of becoming a parent.
