I arrived quite worried and stressed. Exams have that effect on me. But Ed was so calming I ended up doing a great test and I passed. I recommend Colorado Driving Institute very highly. I can say I had a great experience.

If you are of any race except for white, don’t ever bother coming to this driving school for driving test.

They are basically racial discrimination against minorities and will presume you are not good at driving because they will look at you up and down (which I don’t know why they would do that) and ask how much experience in driving you have. At that time, they will start asking if you would need the two-hour driving lessons even before you start the test.

And sometimes the testers are really not good at looking at the traffic lights as they will mistake the red light with green light (probably color-blinded unfortunately) and if you ever stop at a red light (which for them is the so-called “green light”) then they will fail you because those color-blinded racist would assume you are wrong. Well, it’s always up to the testers isn’t it? There are only two driving schools in Boulder that can do the driving test but I strongly suggest anyone (if unfortunately you are a minority) go to the other one for your tests. At least they won’t just fail you because they want to sell lessons to you. Good luck!

I agree with the previously posted review…
I would NOT recommend using this company.

Ed – the driving test evaluator – means well…
BUT
He has definitely let the power of being the evaluator go to his head.
He literally attests to driving mistakes that he created in his own head while reviewing your driving.

The first time I took the test, I DID make a mistake, and it was appropriate that I failed.

The second time I took the test, I was driving more appropriately (and following the technical minutia of driving laws) more than over 99% of the other cars around me…
BUT
Ed still failed me.

Once again…I would NOT recommend using this company.

(And if you do use this company, I strongly recommend scheduling your driving test with Josh…NOT Ed.)

I am appalled by the apparent conflict of interest upon which this business (and other private driving test institutes) operates and how that seems completely acceptable. They would fail you even if you did an almost perfect test after over five years of clean driving record just to make you take their classes or pay for another test. Ed seems to enjoy this power, though Josh is a kind soul! Good luck.

I’m not sure what the other bad reviews are all about because I had a wonderful experience at the Colorado Driving Institute. Ed, the instructor, had a kind and a great atmosphere with a great sense of humor while keeping things professional, seriously I could not ask for a better instructor.

My license expired while i was overseas for couple of years. I took a driving test with Mr. Ed in Boulder. He was extremely nice and professional from beginning to end. Mr. Ed made the whole experience very comfortable. I would highly recommend this office, weather you need driving lessons or a state driving test 👍

I recently moved to Colorado from the UK and panicked when I heard I couldn't just swap my license over here and would have to do a driving test. After driving for 20+ years I knew I'd got into bad habits and was especially nervous adapting to driving on the other (wrong!) side of the road!

I live in Louisville and after researching local driving schools and reading their bad reviews I decided to look at driving schools in Boulder instead. Colorado Driving Institute has great reviews and once I got my permit I booked a 2hr brush-up lesson with Josh. He was amazing! He made me feel at ease, explained everything so clearly and was just very kind and filled me with confidence for my test.

Today I had my driving test with Ed and I can't say enough nice things about him. He too, made me feel so at ease (my nerves were high for the test!) and dare I say I actually found the test enjoyable (oh, and I passed)! Overall my experience with this driving school has been second-to-none and I highly recommend it to everyone.
