Best martial arts studio in Boulder! I've been training here for almost two years and it's my favorite place to be. Abel Villacorta, the director for One Dojo, is extremely warm and personable and welcoming to everyone. He is also the Lead Instructor for Boulder Ki Aikido (one of many programs you can train under at One Dojo) and is a joy to work with. We have Kei Izawa Sensei, 7th dan, who is Chief Instructor for Aikikai Tanshinjuku at our dojo! We also have Evolene Premillieu, 4th dan, who teaches Aikikai. We have Iaido classes, yoga classes and taiko classes! it's a wonderful community and atmosphere and I'm so glad I stumbled upon it!

A community training center is a perfect idea to bring together different martial arts and programs.

I recently visited One Dojo’s traditional Aikido class taught by Izawa sensei/Tanshinjuku Aikido.

The dojo is a beautiful setup and location with around 40 tatami (falling) mats decor sharing the culture and martial art programs.

Our class was focused around the Aikido Jo and lucky to have focused class from Izawa sensei. This is a great program and the Tanshinjuku classes are very mature and have a long lineage with both Aikikai and Kanai sensei style.

I would highly recommend people starting Aikido to try a class and lear Aikido from the Tanshinjuku teachers at the one dojo and enjoyed practicing and meeting Izawa sensei and Cunningham sensei. Arigatou.

Lastly, the One Dojo also has other programs as well and might be great opportunity to learn other disciplines as well.

Share your experiences and review here as well.

Such a supportive and joyful place! The teachers and students are so generous with their knowledge and energy. I may come in with stress and tension, but I always leave with calm, focus and a smile on my face. In just a few weeks I can sense the teachings of Ki Aikido starting on the mat and flowing deeply into living life.

One Dojo is a spectacular place to train Aikido, Yoga, Tai Chi, Taiko drumming, and other practices. The dojo is very supportive to it's teachers and students. There is a lot of effort put into the learning of the students, as well as creating a clean, peaceful atmosphere. Finally, the students are welcome to try any and all of the offerings, and it is a great way broaden your learning.

One Dojo is a very nourishing environment. Sensai is a wonderful mentor and coach focusing on the gifts of every student. He breaks down harder steps into smaller pieces so that everyone can feel a sense a success. A safe safe for queer and nuerodivergent kids of every age.

I recently started attending Aikido class here. It has been a great experience. The instructors are fantastic, it is a great mental and physical workout, and I immediately learned skills I can apply to other sports. I can't imagine a better all-around experience with any Boulder Martial Arts facility.

I highly recommend One Dojo Boulder for Akido! I've taken the beginner/intro course, and it was a wonderful experience. Abel Sensai is an excellent teacher for beginners (and more experienced students, as I observed). His dojo is welcoming, challenging, and supportive.

I enjoyed the exposure to the many aspects of Akido: mind, body, & spirit. Class was an excellent "retreat" from the insanity of our modern world. The Akido teachings & philosophy Abel Sensai shares also enhanced peace and calm when not in class.

I also enjoyed building relationships with the other students in class as we worked together to train our bodies and minds.

In addition to all of this, students also have the opportunity to attend other classes with "guest Sensais" and to participate in workshops that involve Akido Sensais and students from the whole Denver metro area. It's a wonderful community to be a part of!

One Dojo is a wonderful place to learn Aikido in Boulder! A supportive and positive community, and uplifting space to practice.

I started taking Evolene Sensei's adult intro course a couple months ago, basically new to martial arts, and have been learning so much. She puts a lot of thought and care into each class, is very generous with her time, and offers encouragement to students whatever stage they're at in their training. She's one of the most disciplined and dedicated people I've met, and inspires others to go beyond their self-perceived limitations, while also being a patient and kind teacher. There is a supportive, friendly, camaraderie among members of her class as well. I'd highly recommend Evolene Sensei's adult intro course to anyone curious about Aikido!

I've also taken a drop-in class and private lesson with Abel Sensei, and he is also a very wonderful teacher! While he teaches a different style of Aikido than I practice, he has given me very helpful advice on where to place my attention/focus my energy while training.

Even if you're like me and not so interested in self-defense, but more so in mind/body/spiritual discipline, Aikido and this dojo seem great for that also. The spiritual philosophy of Aikido's founder is very inspiring, and the path of Aikido seems offered to the world as a way to live more positive, brave, and loving lives with the help of martial arts discipline.
