Review: Good structure, but inconsistent service and organization issues

Our stay at The Peaks Resort & Spa in Telluride had some positive aspects, but also significant shortcomings in service and hotel management.

Positives:

Ski Valet: Excellent service! The team was always very attentive and helpful, making the logistics for skiing much easier.

Location: Good for those looking for ski-in/ski-out access, but there are other options with direct access to the village, which may be more convenient.

Lauren: One of the few staff members who was truly attentive and friendly, which made our experience a little better.

Pool area: Good for children, though the water could be warmer.

Areas for improvement:

Reception and customer service: We had a serious issue with our reservation. We had booked connecting rooms, but upon arrival, we were indifferently told that none were available and that nothing could be done. Since we had just arrived from a long trip with two children, we accepted the separate and distant rooms, deciding to resolve the issue later with our travel agency. The hotel could have shown more empathy and sought a solution from the start.

Accommodation: The rooms have no air conditioning and are poorly lit. The soundproofing is also poor, allowing us to hear conversations from neighboring rooms, and even worse, through the bathroom ventilation system. The carpets and rugs also seemed old and worn out.

Restaurant and bar: Service is slow, and the staff appears inexperienced and unprepared to deal with guests. Most of them lack friendliness, making the dining experience below expectations.

Spa: Disappointing service. The massage therapist seemed rushed to finish and was in a bad mood, which negatively affected the experience.

Jacuzzis: Excessive chlorine, making it impossible to stay inside due to the strong vapor.

Late upgrade: We spent four out of our seven nights in separate and distant rooms before finally receiving an upgrade to a penthouse.

Conclusion

The Peaks Resort & Spa has good facilities and an excellent ski valet service, but the service, organization, and overall experience need significant improvement. The lack of empathy at reception, accommodation issues, and inconsistency in restaurant and spa services negatively impacted our stay.

I recommend it for families looking for a simpler service with the convenience of ski-in/ski-out access. However, if customer service and overall quality are priorities, it may be worth considering other options in the area.

My friends and I had the pleasure of staying at The Peaks for 4days, and it was an experience that exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in luxury and impeccable service by John. He took care of us and is very courteous and professional.

The resort itself is stunning and our room was spacious, beautifully appointed and offered breathtaking views of the Telluride mountains.

Overall, our stay at the Peaks was nothing short of spectacular. It’s the perfect destination for anyone seeking luxury and comfort. Can’t wait to return for next ski-son!

My friends and I had an amazing experience at this stunning and spotless hotel! From the moment I arrived, everything was top-notch. The hotel is beautifully maintained, making for a truly relaxing stay. Thank you for making our Ski trip memorable.

A special shoutout to John from the coffee shop he went above and beyond to grab coffee and sandwiches for my friends. I had a few special requests, and without hesitation he made sure everything was taken care of. That level of service is rare and truly appreciated!

The bar staff Geo was equally impressive so accommodating and attentive. They made sure we had everything we needed, creating a fantastic atmosphere.

I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a luxurious and welcoming experience. Can’t wait to come back!

“Stunning views of the Rocky Mountains” is what’s advertised.

But the building angles around to the left and Room 450 looks through a tree at a condo building. If you stand in the far left corner and angle yourself to the right, there’s a partial obstructed Mountain View. Hardly stunning.

After raising the issue in the morning, the front desk said they would try to do something.

Despite many rooms being available for sale online in the same room category and in other superior room categories that could have been an upgrade to compensate for their error, I was told that because of the current occupancy and average daily rate, the best they could offer me was a refund if I wanted to leave.

Think about what they’re saying: “we think we can sell this room to someone else so we don’t care that we lied to you. We will just lie to someone else”

So I left. In the cold and the dark I walked out and rode the gondola into town stunned at the lack of hospitality and the willingness to stand by their lie.

Room 450 does not have stunning views. They advertise it as having stunning views. They don’t care.

Also the restaurant on site sucks, the dinner sucks, the breakfast sucks, and they’re very strict about check in time.

Liz took very good care of us! Good hangs and great food. She gave good recommendations too! $5 happy hour menu is great too. Obviously a killer view too. Wings had kick! Feels like a local spot with some music in the lobby. I think we saw most of our lift workers at the bar too.

…Awesome rooms and spa and easy ski in and out! The staff is very friendly! Our room was clean and spacious with amazing views of the San Juan mountains. I would stay here again. Not only is the hotel a comfortable place to stay, but it gives easy access to one of the best ski areas in the world!
