My elementary kiddo gives it a 10 out of 10 because when you complete the trivia/scavenger hunt you get to choose an actual antique or unique coin out of the treasure chest. Also, there were a few touch screens that played 2-3min videos, making it "better than just reading."

My middle school kiddo gives it a 10 out 10 because it had a broad range of coin displays, and he compared certain exhibits to the Smithsonian - but points out that the yap stone is the size of double doors at the Smithsonian - but the yap stone here in Colorado Springs could easily fit in a wheelbarrow. The slightly more difficult trivia game for teens also results in a trip to the treasure chest.

If you wish to learn more, there is a library attached where you can take a deep dive into the art of coin collecting, the evolution of currency, and just enjoy being brainy.

Budget about 45min - 1hr of your time for the museum portion. We only snooped around the library for a few seconds...our vacation volume isn't necessarily "library quiet"...

Maybe call ahead to see if there are any scheduled demos for the mint/coin press. Unfortunately, during our visit that display area was blocked off, but the setup makes me think groups or field trips or tours might get to see some fun stuff! Also, there is a corner upstairs with risers and a large TV that's meant to be a theatre - it was not operational. Seemed like a simple tech fix or a web address issue. Maybe "tech guru" wasn't on the clock the day we went.

If 50 people were here - it would be crowded. Our visit was on a Saturday afternoon and there were about 12 guests (including us) during our visit.

Evidently there's a Groupon and maybe even a $2 coupon on tourism rack cards. We didn't know about either. Hopefully someone reads this and maybe saves a little deniro.

A great place to be! Lots of cool money exhibits used in history, especially exhibits with my two favorite United States Presidents, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln

Super fun! Lots to do and see for both adults and kids. We were there for about an hour but could have easily stayed between 1 and 2 hours if we hadn't got there right before closing. They have a good variety of money-themed items/souvenirs you can buy at reasonable prices. There are certain days where admission is free and also admission is discounted if you get there within an hour of closing. And we found a good Groupon to use as well. The staff was super nice and helpful and it was very easy to walk around. It's self-led. I would gladly go back if I'm in the area again.

Got a good intro to numismatics, history of medals and their manufacturing. So much of art and craft goes into the making of these master pieces.. don't miss to watch all the video clippings. Gift shop has variety of coins and stamps for novice collectors. Children and adults have to visit this center at least once.

We visited during coin week and really enjoyed ourselves. The museum is interesting and well organized. There are lots of beautiful displays and good information. Everyone that worked there was friendly and helpful when we had questions. My son especially liked watching the process of a coin being made.

Even if you're not a coin enthusiast or collector, this is a museum with a great amount of world history and American history that anyone would enjoy. The displays related to early American coinage were particularly interesting, as well as the information about early paper currency. Several highly valuable rare coins are on display and include a history of their ownership. Plan to spend about an hour going through the exhibits.

We had no idea that this place even existed in Colorado Springs, or to expect someone as great as this! There's two floors of awesome informative displays from the beginning of coins and money to current versions. They also have a kids area, and once a month have a kids focused teaching session which is very informative yet fun and your kids will end up with lots of coins from around the world.

Count on about an hour with grade school age kids. Good place for kids... they can do a search game to earn a free coin!
They do offer off-street parking.
