I was planning to transfer here to finish my bachelors degree and possibly my masters. Sent in all of my transcripts, paid the admissions fee, and got accepted. Then they sent me an email saying I had to pay an additional $300 "confirmation fee" that they did not disclose beforehand. I informed them I'm a disabled veteran on a fixed income and depend on VA benefits to pay for 100% of school expenses and couldn't afford the fee as I'm on a fixed income and me and my wife just had a child so we don't have an extra $300 lying around. I asked if they could possibly wave or defer the fee, and they hit me with a "oh, that's too bad, maybe next year." The funny thing is that they probably just missed out on about $80,0000 the VA would have paid them over time for me to go to school there over a $300 fee they just made up to nickel and dime people, that they could have easily waved. Nice, hope that was a win for ya.

I absolutely agree with this college for any student looking to be themselves and bring out that inner self of confidence and independence to find their passion in life. Very nice and dedicated staff and current students 24/7 to help any future and current students of FLC.

I'm commenting from a visitor's perspective. Easily the most beautiful campus I have ever seen. Sitting on top of a hill overlooking the town of Durango and surrounding mountains, with deer roaming freely unsuspicious of people. Can drive to the vibrant downtown in 5 min, or climb a newly constructed stair path of 500 steps to town. Nice facilities. Must be a beautiful experience to study and live here.

Student of FLC here! I have loved this school so far, it's a beautiful campus and it's also small, which I appreciate as you really get a personal experience with your professors!

Advising is terrible. Classes fill up where the advisors have u take an alternate route to graduation. Need more professors for the psych program.
Update: it's 2024. I graduated. But my experience with the psychology department was ok. 2 of the professors that I had were astonishing harsh. Dr. Burke had treated me with unethical demeanor and unprofessionally called me out in class one time in front of whole class, which was embarrassing and humiliateding. I dont recall him being my father. I don't recall him paying g my bills? Although he felt it was appropriate to treat me like I was a kid. I was on my phone in class due to family emergency and I was receiving updates on my uncle who was brutally assaulted and my family was not sure if he would make it or not (he lived) but dr. Burke had the audacity to send me an email telling me how rude and disrespectful I was. I also applied for the internship in Denver which dr. Burke held every summer but he denied my application and I feel this was due to the phone incident. I've never felt so uncomfortable with a professor in my whole life (and I went on to get my masters). You'd think a professor in psychology none theless with a doctorate degree would have more empathy.
Anywho. It was ok. Dr. Tidewel? Tidel? Grades assignments like it's not her future she cares about so that was a tough class but she was ok.
My experience with the graduation ceremony was not great. For family/friends with a disability you cannot reserve seats for.... its first come first serve... I had a family member with a head injury and mobility issues so if they fell, that's was the end for them. I had to call and email the Dean and the president and records and whoever would listen to me. And thanked God all mighty i was able to reserve seating. Overall I give this school a 2ish star rating. Well 3. I did graduate. But other than that the dorms are alright. Walls are thin I could hear people doing the deed upstairs and next door. Good luck.
