An amazing semester school where you will make life-long friends from around the world, get pushed outside your comfort zone academically and physically, and grow to be a more independent and self-motivated person. I attended HMI as both a student in the semester program and as an apprentice after college. Both times I made wonderful friends, amazing memories and learned skills I could not have gotten anywhere else. If you every wanted to go on an amazing adventure and meet people from around the world, HMI is for you.

The High Mountain Institute changed my life. I attend their semester program as Junior in high school in 2008. The lessons that I learned at HMI helped me go on to be successful in college experience and early in my professional career. I was privileged to attend HMI almost 12 years ago, way back in RMS XXII (Semester 22). The months I spent in the shadows of Mount Elbert and Mount Massive were life changing. The academics were rigorous (Karl was the best math teacher I’ve ever had) and the adventures and friends made along the way were unforgettable. Parts of my time at HMI were incredibly difficult, but as a whole, my time at HMI shaped who I am today. I can not recommend HMI or any of their programs enough.

This is one of the best educational institutions in the United States. If you want to learn how to be a better person and a stronger leader, spend time backpacking during the school year, and sleep in a log cabin all while keeping up with a traditional academic schedule, this is the place for you. I made so many incredible memories and friendships and if you take the dive, you will too!
