It is a cool little stop if you are passing through the area. The carousel goes surprising faster than what I had originally thought. Definitely somewhere to stop if you are into history, carousels, or have kids. The museum provides a brief history and the staff is very friendly. You can pay for a ride token while there. $0.25 USD for a ride token and $1.00 USD museum entry.

This place was an absolute gem in the middle of a long car ride! It is a beautiful carousel! It has been restored and is fully functional for rides. We enjoyed hearing about its history and a couple of stories about it before we took a ride. Rides are only 25 cents a person too! The organ that plays music for the ride is an absolute stunner, too!

Don't hesitate to stop and see this historic treasure.

This is amazing. It is one of only a handful of original carousels in the country that is in operation. The animals are all hand carved and it was built around 1904. They also have a small museum which is also where you purchase the tickets.

The lady who helped us at the carousel was so nice and friendly! But the lady inside was not very nice. She made a few comments that were unnecessary. I have three kids and they each wanted to try the player mechanism. She then says "gosh you only need to tap it once, was that necessary.
We thought it would be a nice fun experience for our kids while we drove from Washington to Florida but she was so rude it was sad.

We have been visiting this carousel for many years as we are driving down I-70. In the summer, we try to time it so we are there when it is open and one can actually ride the carousel. It is such a magical treasure which combines art, craftsmanship, and history. The beauty of the carved and painted animals is beyond description and needs to be seen in person. It still only costs a quarter to ride. Be sure to visit their museum and ask about the history.

I've posted before that we always try and find the older carousels to ride when on vacation. This one was amazing, and the story behind it even better. The eyes on the large dog and lion were made of glass and looked like they were moving as you moved.

If you are traveling down I-70 would recommend stopping in for a visit to the museum and a ride on the carousel.

We rode the giraffes in memory of my wife's mother who had passed away 2 weeks before our visit.

What an incredible experience! The ladies really knew their history about the carousel! The museum was also very beautiful and nice to tour and learn all about the history!! Our two year old daughter absolutely loved the rides she got to have! We can't wait to come visit again!!
