Every year around Thanksgiving, we vacation in the Colorado ski towns, and Beau Jo’s has been on our radar for years. This historic pizza joint has always intrigued us, and we finally made it happen this year.

The Pros
The service was great—friendly and attentive—and the prices were reasonable, especially for the portion sizes. Beau Jo’s doesn’t skimp on toppings; they’re generous, which many people might appreciate.

The Cons
The pizza itself was just too much. We ordered the Mountain Style, and while I enjoy crust, this was overkill. The double-folded crust results in double the bread, which might be fine if it had some seasoning or even a little oil. But without any of that, it felt bland unless you dunked it in honey—which only adds more calories to an already heavy meal. On top of that, they overdid the toppings for my taste, making the pizza feel overwhelming rather than balanced. My advice? Order the smallest size and go light on the toppings if you decide to visit.

The Bottom Line
Beau Jo’s is a fun and unique stop on your way to Aspen, Beaver Creek, or Vail. While it probably won’t be the best pizza you’ve ever had, it’s a neat place to check out, especially if you’re hungry for a lot of food. Just don’t expect anything extraordinary.

A staple and an awesome Coloradan tradition for coming here for some unique pizza after skiing. The waiters were great and the place was huge with plenty of seating. I like the decently sized menu they have available. The tiptop and margarita pizzas were excellent but make sure they are mountain style since it was amazing, especially when you put honey on the crust too. Great starry and drinks, but sort of limited selection for non-alcoholic. Highly recommend this pizza restaurant, it’s a great Colorado tradition to go here after skiing!

Discovered this pizzeria on the way back from Vail based on a friend's recommendation, and it was excellent! Honestly, one of the best (if not the best) pizzas I've had in the USA. The ingredients used seem to be top-notch, and the place is super cozy despite being huge. It was packed the day we went, so we had to wait about 30 minutes for a table for four. The only downside was the delay in getting our order. The waitress, who was very attentive, explained they had some issues in the kitchen that day. However, the wait was absolutely worth it! Highly recommend this spot—go without hesitation!

This is in a fun venue right off I-70. There are lots of old miner town relics on display. We had a pleasant server who graciously explained the menu to us first timers. We ordered a prairie single topping pepperoni and a mountain specialty pizza, the motherlode. The restaurant was busy, but it didn't take too long to get our food. The pizzas were good, especially with the table honey. I would like to come back and try different sauce and topping options our next trip into the mountains. We didn't have enough silverware for our whole group, and there are no table napkins. We'll definitely be back.

The spinach & artichoke dip is out of this world. Also loved the apple cobbler. The pizza was good, it’s very filling. Loved the atmosphere and it was cool seeing the history of the gold mines. Excellent service.

Okay not the best pizza I’ve EVER had but it was pretty darn good!!! We came here as a recommendation from a local on our trip and loved our pizza. So here’s the scoop… we didn’t do the right thing and try the mountain pizza we got a prairie and take aways from a lot of people who have had this pizza before say the mountain crust that comes with honey to make your own dessert is the way to go! We will definitely be trying that the next time. We ordered a CYOP (Create your own Pizza) and had Italian sausage, mushrooms and black olives and while good I would most compare the taste to Papa Murphy’s back home. Price tag was my big factor, yes the pizza is good but it fed me and one other (pretty average guys) for $40+ it was a little steep but signing up for the rewards program gave me a little money back *roughly $2* the toppings were a little too light but the crust was thin, crispy and tasty. The guy that helped us was very friendly and patient with our questions and got us the right things for our needs. Pizza only took 20 minutes from time of order to time we departed the restaurant. Location is great we were staying in Black Hawk and the drive wasn’t too bad. I would have eaten at the restaurant if it hadn’t been so close to closing time (45 minutes prior to close) but took it back to our hotel instead.

TLDR; good and fresh pizza on a medium to high budget, good location and friendly helpful staff! Try the Mountain Pie!
