My son started with Joanne and her team lacking in a huge amount of confidence in Maths. (Beginning in year 5) He was well below average and this had an impact on his overall confidence in the classroom. When he finished, he achieved Greater Depth in his SATS results, learnt to enjoy maths and no longer panic. I can't recommend the team at Growing Young Minds enough. Thank you!

We have had a very enjoyable and memorable experience with Growing Young Minds. Our son has had the extra help he needed in his learning and has also become more confident in the subjects he were taught there. Joanne and her team are excellent at what they do. Joanne will go the extra mile to help in any way she can and is very approachable. Our other child will be joining the classes soon too. My daughter has been having tutoring with Growing Young Minds for nearly 3 years. We have been very happy with the support she has received. The tutors are attentive and have plenty of time for the children's individual needs. Our daughter has enjoyed it very much and looks forward to catching up on a weekly basis with her tutor group/s. My daughter was 8 when I discovered Joanne at GYM and boy am I glad I did! When she first started she couldn't recall 7 + 5 even and would guess the answer. It was upsetting and worrying for me and looking back I think it affected her confidence not only in Maths but just her all round learning experience at school. I was worried too because the curriculum moves so fast so I felt if she didn't get that maths foundation learning in it would just be so difficult for her.
Joanne was straight talking about exactly where my daughter was in her maths and how she got on each week. I prefer this instead of not being sure so you know exactly where she stands and what she needs to learn. From just one hour a week and 3 years later, my daughter is not only where she needs to be in maths in school, she says arithmetic is her favourite subject!
Joanne's way of explaining maths to her (especially as she didn't get it right in the way the school taught her and the speed the school taught her) is absolutely brilliant. Joanne makes sure the child explains it back to her so they get why and how they got that answer and also revisits any subject again (fractions etc) so it's properly sunk in.
Couldn't recommend GYM enough nor thank Joanne enough for giving my child her confidence back too and teaching her maths so it has sunk in forever! Absolute 10 out of 10.

My son attended sessions with Joanne in the run up to the Y6 Wandsworth test. These were very valuable in making sure he knew all the question types and had built a solid technique. As a result, he went into the exam with a high degree of comfort and confidence. Joanne was also very responsive and helpful with suggestions for approaches, and areas of focus for home study. We were very pleased with his results and very grateful for the work and support of the GYM team!
