Never had any issues here . Ammo purchase was cheaper than most other places. Re qualifications also cheaper. The instructor even lent me his firearm for the training. Don't go there if you are sensitive and expecting a marble palace with a Starbucks inside and if you need a specific training pay the fee , pass the tests and start working or continue to work and stack up that paper. They might take a bit filling out your requal forms but they do it right. You have a question, they will answer it. You can't come here and expect to get treated like a baby, you are grown and are getting training for jobs were transients will more than likely test your professionalism and patience. Besides that, the best of luck to you all.

They are good when it comes to getting your security card. Just pay for they fees. And you will get your card but do not apply if you are a felony do not waste your money. I got my security card is all I go say it take like a month or so. This is a good place do not listen to people saying it is bad. Good luck to any person willing to work a security job in Los Angeles California they will get you your card.

Great spot to train with probably the best prices in town. Did my pepper spray and baton training here recently and it was easy. Received both certifications same day. Laminating machine was locked away so couldn't get them laminated there and the typewriter was locked in the main office and Craig (owner) was already gone for the day. Day after a holiday so I'm not gonna knock off any stars. Everything had to be written in. She (the receptionist/assistant) said I was welcome to come back to get everything typed and laminated next day but it's not a big deal. They are valid whether typed or not. I can get them laminated for a few cents each at Fed Ex or a dollar at Staples. Easy peasy.

Staff is also welcoming and friendly. Things can get a little slow at times, but not painfully slow. Mainly a lot going on and sometimes not enough staff to attend every need. Live Scan is what takes the longest because you have to wait for the people who do the live scanning to get there. Thankfully what I came for, didn't require any live scan or state fees. But at least I know what to expect when I come in for my FireArm processing whenever the time comes.

Pepper Spray and Baton cards do not expire as long as your guard card stays valid.

I'm happy because now I can start my new position next week! In less than a month, I will also be returning to do my firearm qualification since my job will require it. Again, cheapest prices I've seen with everything included. I think it's $371 for everything including the course, the range, gun rental, ammunition, live scan and state fees. Plus they train you for like 2 calibers; any additional calibers added on are like $20 each (I THINK; but check to make sure) which is great. Re-qual is $40 per caliber I believe.

Most other places are in the $500 to $700 range for everything included and only train you for maybe 3 different calibers. Classroom course is there onsite and is walk-in welcome on any day. Range day is every Wednesday. So no matter what day you start, jusy remember that range day is always the following Wednesday.

It is completely worth it to invest in your career as a security officer, ladies and gentlemen. Getting your guard card is half the battle, because at least you can get a nice steady job. But if you want to be able to make more money, upgrade and get more licenses. It's worth it. Even getting just your pepper spray and handcuff licenses can qualify you for better paying work. CPR/First Aid is also very inexpensive here, I believe it's $40 to get the card, and $30 to renew after that. Taser license only $100.

*Update I now have my firearm license as well. It took a little longer than it was supposed to but that is no fault of American Training Academy; it is the fault.of BSIS. My background check and everything went through, but somehow they overlooked my application and forgot to push it through and send the letter for the assessment. After a few phone calls to BSIS, I was finally able to get the ball rolling and I now have my firearm license in hand, laminated and all.

Thank you, American Training Academy! See you in June or July for re-qual and to possibly add on one more caliber! I hope you get lots of business I've been referring everyone over to you guys!

After getting my guard card thru American Training Academy a few years ago, I decided I would go for my gun permit. Because I never handled a gun before I was a bit nervous. American Training Academy provided a friendly, well instructed course that put me on the fast track to becoming a licensed, professional firearms owner. The instructor was a no nonsense kind of guy, He is very professional and dedicated to the profession. I would recommend American Training Academy to anyone looking to become a licensed security professional.

Best and most trusted instructor in all of Southern California. Mr. Craig Montgomery handled all my state paperwork for years. Always kept helping to keep permits and licenses actively ongoing. Very well priced and great location. Highly accredited and recognized practice. I always recommend his services to anyone interested in CCW or BSIS credentials. I am a loyal client to his business for life.
