We have been with sylvan over six months now, and my daughter is doing a whole lot better. She is so much more confident in her reading ability and if you want to have consistency in a tutoring program whether it is reading, math or just someone to give that extra push Sylvan is the answer. There have been a lot of changes in the Arlington location, but they have done a tremendous job at keeping us the parents and the guardians of the students that attend their facility in the loop. The 30 minute 1 on 1's every month are extremely helpful and beneficial to seeing where you're student is, and discussing what they have done good at, and what they are needing to do better at. I personally appreciate the fact that they say things in a professional way and don't sugar coat the areas that needs to be addressed, because education and the fundamentals are important especially at the grade level that my daughter goes for.

UPDATE: We started at Sylvan 2 years ago with my daughter reading at a Kindergarten level at the start of second grade. Through their help as well as her school teacher's help- she MASTERED her 3rd Grade STAAR Reading Test!!! She is so proud of herself and as she told everyone at Sylvan they all were so proud of her as well! They are wonderful people and they will always be my first choice when she needs extra help along the way!

My daughter continues to feel more confident and her teachers see immense improvement in her reading ability. Her teacher even said she volunteers to read outloud for the whole class- which is not something she would have done last year. I have no idea what I would have done without them.

My daughter has high functioning autism and Sylvan has been instrumental in bringing her up to and beyond (for math in my daughter’s case) her current grade level’s standard for several years. I was very impressed with the new Arlington Sylvan director, Afrah, at our meeting today. Afrah shared some very keen insights of my daughter after careful review of her work and her teachers’ impressions, made excellent suggestions on how best to encourage and support my daughter at home, and offered advice on how best to adjust her tutoring plan at Sylvan! She shared specific examples of work my daughter had done during tutoring, where she needs more work, and how to help! I left feeling empowered and hopeful for continued growth of my daughter’s academic potential!

I really love the Sylvan program. My son really enjoys the classes and even though he is 9 yrs old he feels it helps him. He never complains about having to go. We will continue to utilize Sylvan to help him. The staff is always so organized and nice as well!

My children are currently receiving tutoring services at this location. The kids were able to be evaluated one week and start tutoring the next week. They have been scheduled each week to receive the personalized sessions that each of them need, and thankfully, the director has been willing to work with my variable schedule. I am already seeing an improvement in my daughter’s confidence in her own reading ability, which is causing her to choose more difficult books at home for independent reading. My son didn’t feel comfortable raising his hand during math class last year and he specifically told Ms. Maya that he wanted to test his math abilities after the reading evaluation. In the last two weeks since school has started, he has been coming home telling me about the math problems he has been answering correctly during class. I am pleased with our experience at Sylvan of Arlington.

My daughter enjoys her tutoring and looks forward to it each weekend. She is starting to have more confidence in school when doing her work. The Sylvan team is really flexible with scheduling and our priorities for what is covered. They are also very communicative with parents. We're looking forward to continued time in tutoring to hopefully see some improvements in her school grades soon. Edited 2 months later from 4 to now 5 stars - my daughter's grades have improved greatly. We are going to keep her in tutoring so that she can keep up the great work. We really appreciate what Sylvan has done for her education.

Sylvan has been an awesome experience for us so far! The staff is wonderful to work with! We are a military family going thru the deployment phases and Sylvan has made the adjustments smoothly. My son is allowed to take in his comfort items to help make his learning process smoother and we have been able to take the family days off when the military gave to us at last minutes notice. In terms of our sons academics we have seen great improvement in both his reading and math skills in his short time at Sylvan. His self-esteem and confidence grow with every session and he looks forward to attending each session. As a parent I look forward to our monthly conference for the updates to see just how much improvement there has been and the feedback from his tutors. I am looking forward to seeing how far my son academic journey advances while he attends Sylvan!
