I went there when I was in 6th grade and it was the best. The counselors are super nice and the food is great. Probably one of my favorite things I did there was the hikes or the fun we had in the cafeteria after eating and just being one with nature. 10/10 recommended best place to go. If I could go back as a student I would.

6th grade camp was just... the best. I can't even describe it. They give you a lot of bathroom breaks and a 45 minute recess. The hikes are really fun, and the activities are amazing. The wood cookies are not just a name tag, a memory you get to forever keep to remember your amazing experience. My naturalist, Gabe, was such an amazing naturalist. I wish I could get more time with him. Food was pretty good. Of course, people did get food poisoning, but it wasn't that bad. They also give you the best night activities. Dorm Olympics and Night Hike. The bonfire ceremonies are great, and the flag ceremonies were a good way to start the day. Bathrooms are ACTUALLY VERY VERY CLEAN. (Unfortunately, my generation of kids just refuse to flush toilets.) I never ended up taking a shower, but from what I heard, they are not too bad. As far as minutes go, it used to be 3. Thankfully, they actually upgraded it to FIVE minutes. Teacher time is also pretty good. Overall, I almost cried leaving camp, but out of joy. Because the memories this camp has brought to me was more than a 6th grader could ever ask for. I highly reccomend you attend 6th grade camp, or attend Summer camp. It will be an experience all of you guys will NEVER, EVER FORGET! Thank you Foothill Horizons for bringing me the best field trip I could ever ask for as an elementary student.

Foothill Horizons is an amazing outdoor school for 6th graders! I recently came back and I loved everything that the staff did for us. They made learning new things fun with catchy songs that I'll remember for a long time. I met so many new friends and people that I will now know going into middle school. The councilors, teachers and staff did so much for us that made it the time of our lives. I am definitely looking forward to be coming back as a councilor or teacher! We were always doing something whether it was hiking, eating, at flag ceremony, or just relaxing in nature and listening for birds and animals. They also have an amazing king snake named El Rey and a Red-Tailed Hawk named Vinnie. All I can say about Foothill Horizons is all positive and nothing negative. This is an awesome outdoor camp for everyone that comes.

Foothill Horizons Summer Camp is truly the place to be, this place is truly magical. Out of all the years that I have been going, ever single one has gotten better and better. The staff is absolutely phenomenal and they make the place feel like home for the week that you are there. Not only is the staff amazing, but the people that you are surrounded with during the week become some of your favorite people on the planet. If it wasn't for FHSC I would have never met my best friends and I wouldn't be half the person that I am today. I am eternally grateful that I have had the opportunities to visit this place every summer since 2nd grade. Every little thing about it brings me joy, I have never missed a place or the people as much as I have ever missed anything. Not to mention how amazing the food is, thanks to the man Rich who just adds to the magic of it all. I am truly indebted to this place and I can hardly wait for CIT weekend, and camp this summer :))

I have experienced the worst customer service from a non-profit organization ever. Due to schedule conflicts, I had requested swapping my kids's camp week. I were not informed on financial consequences clearly upfront and was charged for $150 while my kids were both still enrolled in the program. I agreed on $75 but felt that $150 was excessive especially one of the changes was due to the miscommunication. But after several emails back and forth, the manager didn't admit any wrong doing in their side and blamed me for not reading their terms. Unsatisfied with the dispute, we decided to cancel both kids' registrations and paid another $150 for cancellation fee. I don't feel comfortable to send my kids to a camp with such attitude toward customer service. There are a lot of hype about this camp, but we don't think it is that outstanding. There are other camps that genuinely care about family and kids than the almighty $$.

I went here for a week in 6th grade at Standiford Elementary, which was close to 29 years ago. I still remember it vividly and fondly.
I remember making name badges right away, out of cross sections of branches and gluing brooch pins to the back. Waking up before the sunrise to eat um.. breakfast? And i quickly learned after the first day, you better get over being picky and eat what they give you cuz you're gonna need the fuel! The days are full of nature based activities, and more cafeteria visits, then off to the showers. Which taught us how to be comfortable with the uncomfortable situations in life, as all the girls in your assigned cabin showed simultaneously. You had exactly 5 minutes to wash up, shampoo and condition. I had long hair so never had time for the latter. And if it was your cabin's turn to go first, you spent the first 2 minutes adjusting the water temperature!
I remember being bussed over to moaning caverns, which took us directly passed my grandparent's 2nd home where the family would always meet for Thanksgivings.
The awkward square-dancing evening where we were 'forced' to intermingle with the opposite sex.
I still remember my camp counselor, she was the sweetest! And one of my childhood idols. Her name was Valley, she was from Turlock, and she had chin length black hair and always wore a headband. I remember she handled an argument that had ensued very diplomatically, and I was instantly inspired by her maturity.
This place was definitely a rite of passage for me, tho I don't believe kids get to stay as long anymore, which I feel is an injustice to the experience.
